Potentially bricked my infotainment system

Featured Replies

I think I have possibly just bricked my infotainment system.

I decided whilst I had some spare time to update the firmware.

Now it’s stuck in a loop ffs!

Anyone seen this before?

It shows up the usual VRs logo stays like that for a few minutes and then restarts itself

It’s a 5Q0035874A

I tried the fw version mst2_eu_sk_zr_p0480T

Well, which software was updated from? Is a diagnostic-capable device that can code available?

It was originally MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T

Potentially yes on the device.

You've committed one of the cardinal sins with the MIB2. You can send the device to someone who knows what they're doing, or open it yourself, etc.

I thought I might have taken a bit of a jump.

When you say open the unit, what will it involve?

@pab567 to the rescue

It could be two issues:

  1. Your unit has skin number coded that is not supported in the new firmware - do you have any diagnostics tool?

  2. Something went wrong - you have to enter emergency mode with MST2_EU_SK_P02xxT on SD inserted into one of teh slots (keep second slot empty), fo this you will need UART connected directly to QuadLock.

Thanks.

I have a very basic odb reader but that comes back with no errors.

I have just got a UART cable delivered as I thought I might need one. I just need to brush up where and what I need to do with it.

Before you start with UART I highly recommend to get in touch with someone having VCDS, OBD Eleven, VC Tool, Vag Can Pro or ODIS and check coding of your 5F unit.

Thanks I’ll find someone who can check it for me
