Automatic Wipers Sensitivity

Featured Replies

Hi everyone.

My wife has a 2019 Karoq with automatic wipers.

When in automatic, they don't seem to get to full speed in heavy rain when set to the highest setting.

Of course it's easy to go up one notch on the stalk to put them on full speed manually, but that kind of defeats the point.

I have a 2021 Skoda superb responds better, so this has got me thinking is the any way to change how sensitive the highest setting is through VCDS?

I could be wrong but I have a feeling the front windscreen has been replaced in the past so maybe that has affected the sensor.

Another question regarding the rear wiper; I can't find any to stop the rear wiper activating when the front wipers are at full speed. It can be annoying as it squeaks a lot. Again, I do have this option on the Superb. Is it possible to activate this option on VCDS, or possibly increase the time between wipes?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know on the sensitivity - ours is oversensitive, too keen to go into continuous mode.

On the rear wiper, been discussed before and seems it may need to be coded out. I'd agree with the advice to change the rear wiper to Bosch - don't notice ours working.

Bosch wipers a big step up from originals imo

Got them F & R and very good

I've just checked my records and it is exactly 6 years (25/01/20) since I replaced the original wipers, both front and rear, on my Karoq with Bosches. The originals were extremely noisy and utter rubbish.

+1 for Bosch wiper blades, front and rear. Ours have done 5 1/2 years and 27,000 miles and still perfect. The factory ones are truely rubbish.

Not all are. My original ones lasted 3 years before they needed replacing.
