Skoda Kodiaq Haldex Service

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

I'm new to the forum and I'm in need of some advice.

I have a Skoda Kodiaq 2019 2.0 TDI 4x4 150hp. The haldex service is due and I wanted to purchase a different brand of haldex oil. What would you guys recommend? I was thinking of liqui moly or Febi. Also what else do I need for the service? I'm getting the work done from a specialist independent garage. I just need to get all the parts. The mechanic said get 1 litre of the haldex oil but they're all 850ml.

I Would really appreciate your advice .

Thanks

Hi,

I've made this 'How to' for my ex Superb Estate Mk3 TDI190 4x4:

I haven't replaced the Haldex oil on my Kodiaq Mk1 yet. But I assume many things may be common.

I suggest going to your local dealer and ask for a quotation to the spare parts guy. It will confirm you whether the P/N are the same or not.

Hi, thank you for the information, I really appreciate it. The oil I require is G 065 175 2A so the liqui moly wasn't the right one. I found out by asking liquid moly and their HQ in Germany confirmed it. I also asked the Skoda dealership in west london who confirmed the number. All this dsg and haldex servicing is new to me and if I hadn't come to this forum including Reddit and other Kodiaq forums I wouldn't have known what to service and when! The next thing I'm researching is the timing belt. My car has 37k miles on the clock and I'm not sure whether I need to replace it or not or when to replace it. I should have bought an electric car! Just joking.

Thank you again !

Well, I'll let you confirm by your local dealer, but the timing belt replacement Skoda recommendation should be at 210000 km (140000 mi?) for your TDI150 without time limit. My wife formerly had an Audi Q3 Mk1 (MY2015) also TDI150, I had it replaced at ~135000km (~83900mi) and 7 years just for my peace of mind, though the timing belt still looked OK.

Important is also to get the Haldex filter cleaned. It really gets dirty and therefore looses the efficience. I have had it done in every 100 000 km.

@Bap33 thanks for that. I'll defo ask the local dealer.

@linni I'll be sure to ask the mechanic to clean that out. Looking at YouTube videos I see it's imperative to get that cleaned . Local dealers won't even do that.

Thank you

Every 100000 km?! 😳

It sounds huge! I clean the strain gauge on the Haldex pump at each Haldex oil replacement every 45000km.

Here are pics of the strain gauge upon Haldex oil replacement on my ex Superb estate Mk3:

1st oil replacement after 45000 km:

3rd oil replacement after 45000 km too:

I didn't take picture at 2nd oil replacement, but it was similar (after another 45000km too).

I know some 4x4 VAG owners do it every 30000km. It can make sense to adjust the mileage of Haldex oil replacement, depending on where you live and the type of roads you have there, and the way you drive...

Damn I better make sure my filter is cleaned!

Official service plan does not contain cleaning at all. But so far 100 000 km has been ok for me, although we have 4 - 5 months snow here.

Have you a pic of the filter state after 100000km?

I'm really curious how it looks like and how clogged it is especially with the 'harsh' conditions you face. 🙂

Is there a big difference with these 2 haldex oils, G 060 175 A2 and G 065 175 A2?

As I use only official dealer services, so unfortunately I don't have any pics.

Maybe ordering a kit from a company that specialises in such?......maybe like this lot.... Gen 4 Ultimate Service Kit for VW Audi Seat Skoda – Haldex Parts and ECU Repairs by Auto Fault Finder Ltd

Not sure about your 2019 car but I think the older Haldex unit's had a dry fill capacity of 750ml ? Service fill would be less.

Differential will take a litre though.

Definitely worth doing .

I've looked at this website and they're good. However, although my car is 2019 the production model is 2020. So I believe it's gen 5 . I've asked another Skoda dealership to confirm. Let's see .

Contact Haldex Repairs, they'll confirm .

It's not in their interest to sell you the wrong parts.

👍

2019 Kodiaq has Haldex 5.

Well, here is my answer/findings as I've been through this "is it the right version of Haldex fluid".

I sent away for the G 060 175 A2 Haldex fluid for my daughter's May 2019 SEAT Cupra's front diff Haldex service, and was sent G 065 175 A2!

I dug deep and discovered that the Febi offering covers both these VAG Haldex fluid part numbers, but certain marques, for a car built at that date used different fluids if you go by the parts catalogue.

I put that down to a possibility that different VAG marques use a different (licensed) manufacturer for these Haldex designed items and so maybe different materials get used.

The H&S statement on the G 060 175 A2 container covers some different chemicals to the container for the G 065 175 A2.

So, having got that info, I requested that my seller provided me with what I had ordered and paid for - which they did.

Bottom line, go with which Haldex fluid your local Skoda dealership says is correct for your car, I've found in recent years that VAG parts departments are not meant to just "hand over" part numbers, so you would probably need to offer them both p/n and let them tell you which is correct for your car.

Just ask them. As my Kodiaq was still under warranty when it reached 45000km, I had it done by my dealer. I clearly asked them to clean the Haldex pump and its filter. I also ask them some pictures, which they did. 😉

Yeah, will do next time. Curious myself.

I've made 3 Haldex oil replacement myself on my ex Superb Mk3 Estate. Only used OEM oil from my local dealer.

Sorry, I don't know other oils.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but you mention the differential and I'm having a really hard time working out what oil to buy for a 60k change (along with one for the front transfer box which is supposed to be lifetime...). I know they take a litre each (less for the front box) Do you have any insight into part numbers or spec please? Might this work....

If it's to the correct VW spec. then it should be ok.......or just get it from the dealer then there's no doubt ?

Just checked. In previous years the dealer used oil with code G 060175A2, but last time they used G 065175A2. So I guess both are good.
