Update offer email from Skoda

Featured Replies

I was one of the licky ones to be chosen by Skoda for a "free update for my vehicle" this week.

I have a special password, and must book the appointment between February 16th and 22nd.

Was this a software update for our Karoq?.

Hard to tell amongst the marketing speak so I phoned them for an explanation. It turns out its just a meeting to buy another Skoda!

So does this mean if I want a new Skoda outside those dates there will be none available?

And why would I need a special password to make an appointment with a sales assistant?

If anybody knows what is really behind the marketing email I'd love to know.

Strange they passed it off as an update, my Dealership sent me an email this week saying

VIP event

"For loyal customers like yourself, we have reserved a limited number of appointments and exclusive offers that will not be advertised to the general public. Additionally, based on our records, your vehicle has been identified as eligible for an Exclusive VIP Event Bonus towards your next new or used Škoda."

Maybe different dealers think differently.

Ours said it was for "an update for my vehicle"

The 'update' is them trying to sell you a new car!. Out with the old and in with the new, hence update.

Anything to get you in the showroom, hoping once you're there you just might decide to buy a new car. The hardest part for any sales is trying to get a potential customer in the showroom, once you are in the showroom there's always the chance of a sale for them.

Well they will have lots of 25 and 75 pre registration cars to shift before the end of the month

There's around 6000 new Skodas in UK stock, 875 of them are Karoqs.

Had similar from Honda and Hyundai in the last few days - Hyundai particularly pushy. Don't know if this means they're all struggling, or they're just reacting to each other.

Did buy the Honda at an event, but it was pure chance - didn't know it was on. Was a bit embarrasing, showroom was deserted. Got an OK deal, but nothing stunning.

I also had an invite to a VIP event which I binned. Clearly simply a sales tactic. My attitude is that I will visit the showroom when it suits me and will buy on my terms. Nowt wrong with that.

I'm going to see them as planning anyway to change our nearly 8 year old Karoq.

I’ve not had an invite! 😭

And might just be interested in an Elroq to replace Mrs DSL’s car. Just don’t tell Mrs DSL. 🤣

Last year I visited local dealer after receiving such an invite. Complete waste of everyone’s time because the salesman couldn’t find my current car in a pile of customer records.

Because my car is not a PCP car. He said I don’t qualify for the “special offer”.

They’re so stupid that they sent me another invitation this year.

As above, I buy what I want when I want it.

Interesting re PCP

My Karoq was bought on PCP but my wife's wasn't. She got an email. I didn't

When we bought the car, the odd thing was that they started sending email promotions for us to change our Skoda for a new one, only weeks after we took delivery.

Same here tbh.

Just an email database mailshot so not too surprising.
