Driving data, since start doesn't reset automatically

Featured Replies

Hi there, just collected my used, 3 year old Karoq SE trim equipped with virtual cockpit.

Driving data in "since start' mode doesn't reset automatically. Every morning they need manual resetting (driving data since refueling resets on its own properly).

I'm pretty sure I've gone through all menus available both over infotainment and steering wheel buttonsbut still maybe someone could let how to activate auto - resetting of this range of driving data? Skoda workshop says this issue isn't covered with car warranty.

As far as I know there is no way to reset 'Since Start' There are three driving data stats, they all include the following: Mileage, Total Time, Average Fuel Consumption.

  1. Since Start which records continuously until the car is stopped for more than 2 hours, any stop less than 2 hours is ignored.

  2. Since refueling - which as you have said resets automatically when the car is refuelled.

  3. Long term which resets when one of the registers overflows either 9999 miles or 99hours and 59 minutes, as the register is only 4 digits.

There is also the trip odometer which is only reset manually and is not the Since Start mileage. Could you be looking at the Trip Odometer as this can be reset manually an cannot be reset automatically.

Are you looking at the driving data on the Infotainment screen or the virtual dash - all three sets of stats can be viewed on the Infotainment screen via the CAR button.

Hi Thamestrader,

Thanks for replying. Absolutely, "driving data since start" should be possible to get reset either manually or automatically.

Manually over virtual cockpit or infotainment. The first way is shown on the attached image.

In my case, the auto-reset doesn't work. Neitherless if ignition is off for two hours, all night or all day. Browsed on-line to get feedback as on the attached screenshot.

Hi Voytek,

So I am in the UK with a UK Spec Karoq with Amundsen Infortainment Unit, your screen print from the manual says the same as my reply, however your dash display show km for distance and mph for speed - so I'm guessing you are in Europe. Do you have a Bolero Infortainemt unit. I ask because I also have a Fabia that has the Bolero Infotainment unit, the Fabia also has the same Driving Data stats. Now the Fabia Since Start automatically resets after 2hrs stopped as it should do, but I am going to check tomorrow what reset options there are for driving data on the Karoqs Amundsen unit and the Fabia's Bolero unit. I think they may be different as I have a faint memory of resetting Long Term on the Fabia when I bought it in 2016 as a 1 year old car.

An update. The same request but different answer from AI. Now, there are three different reasons stated for such glitch with auto-resetting. Screenshot_20260214-220542.png

No, no, the car is from British market. I just got used to kilometres rather than miles when it comes to mileage.

According to Skoda catalogue SE trim is equipped with 8" Amundsen infotainment, so I bet I've got Amundsen indeed.

Meanwhile I've checked up if any software updates are available but everything seems to be up-to-date.

Secondly, got deleted all users profiles.

The last thing, battery. Maybe that's the reason. The car stayed for a while in dealer's yard. I'll see how it works after a few trips, though start-stop system seems to work properly.

PS

My bad, attached wrong screenshot. Didn't mean to copy your answer. Just, once browsed online yesterday got an answer that there is some option to switch on or off auto-reset. Was sure, I uploaded screenshot with that feedback from AI. Sorry for causing the mess.

Voytek, no problem.

Photo shows my 2023 Sportline dash this morning (in the pouring rain). Something I discovered, which may resolve your issue. When I started the engine and selected Since Start on the Infotainment screen it showed my last journey and it was the same info on the centre of the dash, The Since Start data was reset when I moved the car forwards a few feet, I'd never noticed this before I'd assumed it was the start of the engine rather than the turning of the wheels that caused the reset.

I went through all the menu options and can't find any option to reset anu of the driving data stats. As you have a UK car I didn't bother to check the Bolero unit in the Fabia.

Yeah, you must be right. Now, I recalled that in my wife's Rapid with Bolero, once you turn on ignition there is displayed data of last trip and then, after pulling off, it gets rest.

Taking from your picture I guess you've got higher trim SE L, not just SE. It'd mean your infotainment could be Columbus not Amundsen. Netrhetles, why don't try to go through menus CAR-SETTING-INSTRUMEN CLUSTER. Someone pictures attached.

Other way is to push right-hand roll on your steering wheel to get to DRIVING DATA, then push right arrow just below the roll and then scroll down to RESET DATA (either long or from start range)

When it comes to older, before virtual, cockpits you can't reset trip data over infotainment, Bolero especially. What you need to do is to pick up the range you want to get reset by quick pushing the right-hand roll on the steering wheel and then keep pushing this roll a bit longer till data get reset.

This is sub-menu of my Karoq infotainment where you can reset specific range of trip data.

Thanks for the detailed info. I have a Sportline with Amundsen and now you have shown me where to look exactly the same Reset options under Instrument Cluster, and the scroll roller behaves the same as you describe. The Scroll roller action is logical as I reset the Trip every time I refuel by pressing and holding the roller. I have to now question why I bother to do that as Since Refueling provides the same data.

The answer is because you used to do it. So did I. I had a yeti from 2017 and there was no "since refueling data" so I got used to reset it on my own after every fueling up. What's more, older Skodas reset data "since start" in slightly different way. Once you turn on ignition the data are cleared from the very beginning. I use my wife's Rapid very rarely so it's skipped me. Thanks, if not you I'd keep resetting manually those data after every trip.
