Tracking - pulling to the left

Featured Replies

Skoda Fabia 1.6 tdi Elegance Feb 2011... 64,000 genuine mile on the clock. I am third owner. Purchased from a car dealer in July 2025.

I had my mobile mechanic give it a lookover, in preparation for the upcoming MOT near the end of this month.

He advised me that both front lower supspension arms were coroding, and should be replaced. I commissioned him to do the work, as he has been looking after my Two previous Skoda Fabia`s for the past 15 yrs ...

Before he started the work, the car has always had a tendency to "pull to the left"... indicating that the tracking was out...But.. I reported this to the dealer and he said he had adjusted it, but it remained the same... Note, there is not obvious tyre wear, as usually associated with out of line tracking.

After my mobile mechanic compelted the work on the front suspension. he advised me to get the tracking checked and adjusted.. which I did.. at a very reputable local tyre service centre.

BUT... it is still pulling to the left... The car still pulls left on a straight and level motorway road, so it is nothing to do with "the camber".. ( I have been driving for 60yr so am aware of that effect)

This indicates to me that there might be another problem somewhere, but the tyre place could not advise me on what that might be..

Hence my appeal to all you guys out there !.

Strangely, my two previous skoda fabia`s also pullled to the left, .. is this a "trait" ...

The Posts are here from 2010 on about 'Pulling to the left', that was from cars being new. If people went on long enough at Skoda and after Dealerships never fixing the issue they got the Continental or Dunlop tyres replace for Pirelli. That disguised the issue. Actually the issue was often the tyres fitted wrongly for the 'Run out stripes'. But actually in the main it was the alignment of the front from the factory of Right Hand Drive cars for the UK. There were less complaining of Left hand drive cars 'Pulling to the eight'. Sorry no help to you with a 15 year old car, but it maybe never ever did get sorted. Sent to an Audi Garage where the Techs & Fitters maybe paid more attention.

Cars sometimes pull to left due to camber on road. Try and drive in middle on quiet road and see if it makes any difference. I am sure you have checked tyre pressures. If it doesnt make any difference then maybe swap tyres from rear to front.

Thank you Evolution13 for your input... much appreciated... and from what you are saying, ( Alasdair1 - seems to have missed this part...

The car still pulls left on a straight and level motorway road, so it is nothing to do with "the camber".. ( I have been driving for 60yr so am aware of that effect ) )

it seemsto be "a trait" built in to the shape, and design of the front suspension mountings to cope with continental roadways.

As an afterthought... my two previous Skoda Fabia`s (The first was a 1.9 tdi ( Fabia mk 1 ) .. and the 2nd one, being a 1.6 tdi of the same year as this one , both of them had the tendency to pull to the left. but it did not seem to be as "obvious" as on this one...

Thanks again for the research into the earlier threads... I did do a cursory search but never found anything, so again.. much appreciate the efforts.

Consider the thread closed now...

Have a nice eveing, and a pleasant Sunday.

cheers

I'd be very surprised if this left-hand steering bias was a Continental 'trait' - on a flat, LHD road this could put the driver into a head-on collision situation.
