I am in the market for a Superb Estate. In the past, I have owned and loved a 2018 model with the very fast petrol engine (155mph). I presently have a 2022 2 litre petrol Kodiak, which I find a bit rough. I want another petrol, as I have no access to home plug-in charging. So will I find the 1.5 too underpowered? Or should I go for 2 litres?

I have a 2L diesel 150 brake horse power estate Superb and it's fast enough. I'm sure the petrol versions will be quick, but the 2023 1.5 petrol Scala I have driven I find a bit pathetic, so might be better go the 2 litre.

You won't know for sure until you've driven one yourself, personally I'm sure the 1.5 TSI is perfectly fine, not to mention the added economy (if economy matters to you).

I also wouldn't discount the iV even if you don't/can't charge it, again try one out.

A 2L engine is fine unless you care a lot about fuel economy and do a lot of driving in traffic.

If long-distance trips are your main focus, then 2L engines are the best choice. But if heavy traffic trips are common for you, I think you should go with the 1.5 engine.

I used to drive a 1.5 Tiguan and now driving a 2.0 Superb. I find both to be good engines.

I have a 1.5 eTSI Hatch which was a replacement for a 2.0 220 HP mark 3 estate. I wanted a car that was more economical but could keep up with traffic. I have achieved the ecomy aim - the 1.5 is 20-25% more economical on 95RON petrol than the 2.0 was on 97RON. It keeps up with traffic even when loaded, but is no sperts car. The 2.0 could frighten the **** out of me if I floored the throttle whereas the smaller engine just has a little extra 'go' to get past slow traffic. It suits me. As @ducu said, best go ant try one. My test was on a 1.5 mark3 which wasn't the mild hybrid. That showed me that it would be fine. Hope this helps.
