So which one is it then, Maplins, Halfords or Speeding. Or are they all the same.

Maplin & Speeding are basically the same stuff,

Could be bothered looking for Halfrauds stuff.

But call me tighter than a duck's chuff,

Both cars done..... Furby 2 i can't notice much differance as that is standard apart from the PD160 intake and Green filter..... Furby 1 with the Dragon box, PD160 intake and Green filter does seem a lot smoother as it pulls through the rev range though.

Bought the 50g tube from Maplins and have only used a small amount...... Think if i re-applied once a year on both cars it'd last about 10-15 years!!!!!

Cheers

Dave.

That does it lads ,,,,,, Maplin it is.

PLUS their only 15min from me.

yep well worth it, I found that the car idles much more smoothly, picks up better in first gear and seems to rev through the range cleanly.

Excellent recommended

Matt

I'm been so silly its unreal could someone post a little how to with pic's pleas i'm not getting where to apply the magic gunk lol

Scroll up mate, it's all there. :banghead:

Seriously, just look at this thread pal!!! If you can't work it out from the pics and the links, then perhaps don't attempt to do this! :P

Personally I went wild with it:D

Go on you've got a good sized tube of it, Get some more in there:thumbup:

once you have done this once, should that then be it, as in there will be no more required or is it something that will need reapplication.

The aerosol comes with one those really thin straws you get with WD-40, so I think it should be accurate for applying.

I'll give it a shot at the weekend all being well. :D

Unless the MAF is replaced, Grease is stable to 200c or so

edited for being a plonk

Just put some on, although I noticed that my connectors were gold anyway so probably won't make any difference!!

Got some of this stuff and gona try it soon.

To those who have done it - did you think your car was running a little sluggish anyway before trying it and is it a noticeable improvement? Did you think it was running ok in the first place and tried it anyway? if so, any noticed change or not?

Hope thats understandable - cheers..

Mine was running fine, It's still under a year old.

Just thought I'd give this a whirl, First thing i noticed was the idle was no longer lumpy and the throttle response is sharpened.

Don't expect miracles

The improvement this makes is very subtle, But still noticeable.

Best advice is try for yourself and see what you think.

At the end of the day you've nothing to lose apart from the cost of the grease and a couple minutes of your time.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I know i was!!

If anyones got an account with CPC the 50g tube is

This is really great to hear - tried a couple of times in the past to introduce the cage mod to people - really only for their own joy- and met with a lotta scepticism....

Glad to hear that you're all happy.....

Bas

Not really noticed much difference on mine. Perhaps sounding a little smoother, but nothing I'd have noticed not looking for it. Think the air filter's due a clean too though.

Still, was cheap and had a laugh trying to take photos :D

Engine is definately smoother, throttle response seems shrper too. Greased both sides of terminal, plugged in then re greased it to make sure all the contacts were covered.

Muchly happy.!!!

Placebo effect ?

Somebody needs before and after VAG com readings to prove this works.

Could be trouble in the long run if the connections aren't that great to begin with by adding the additional insulation from this grease.

But don't VAG replace the connectors with gold plated one's on top end cars????? Which to me says that there is an issue with this style connector that they don't want to upset their top end customers with.

Just my take on it.
