Searching through posts and YT videos ive found out loads of info but id just like to confirm a couple of things

on MIB-Helpers site it says

Latest possible firmware update: MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526 (MU: 1440)

can i just install this update?

or is it best to install an earlier update to "bridge" it??

can i use a regular 32g or 64g full size SD card

or does it need to be a Skoda Maps Card?

can i put all the updates on the card at once or is it best to do 1 then format the card then do the next?

is there anything i need to do that ive forgotten to ask?

SORRY about the massive pic

The image in your post doesn't come out that large on my PC.

Sorry I don't do TwatNavs now or much when they first started to be used generally decades back so you might not like my answers. For radio stuff, logos etc., unless you have poor quality sound it can sometimes be best to leave well alone, we've all experienced the 'joy' of some computer updates. **** Navs are a different matter, worse now for best routes than back in the day from what I've seen and had to put up with from modern drivers (blindly following TwatNav directions rather than checking other sources and using common sense).

There will be loads and loads of threads and posts generally, for all (appropriate) models, (your 'Author's stats' has "67 Silver 2L L&K TDI DSG" but not which model) on Briskoda about what to do so you could have a search, look and/or ask.

Or if @pab567 is available at the monent he will know and reply here, others will also know but certainly not me, it was too complicated for me when I wanted some sort of update for a computer in my wife's 2015 Fabia so I didn't bother and it's been fine (forget what now) but the car doesn't have a built in TwatNav, she uses Waze sometimes on her phone if I'm not in the car.

Good luck. HTH.

MHI2_ER_SKG13_P4526 (MU: 1440) is the most recent firmware. Use regular SD card, minimum 8GB. You can go directly to it, no need for any "bridge".

@nta16 OOOPS ... Sorry Nigel, ive spent the last month searching for a Superb with the spec i wanted ( or most of it) at the price range i could afford i forget that theres other cars made by Skoda 🤪 i will try and remember that some of the forums are individual and not all in the Superb category

im always learning, and yes ive spent almost every night since i decided what car to get checking on what was easier, finding the car with spec i wanted or finding a car and retro fitting it to what i wanted, but there are sooo many contadictions on different posts as the car is 9years old, ive got 9 years (sometimes more) of posts to searchnot just here but other sites and forums too 🫠

@pab567 Thanks for that, back to amazon again to decide whats best to get

If for Android Auto only then my recommendation is Motorola MA1. I have no experience with th eones for CarPlay as I don't use any iPhone.

If that's not a just a quick expression do bear in mind as they say, other providers are available, and sometimes/often(?) at lower prices.

As for search for information on here and other sites a good quality search engine can find you lots of information, finding what is correct and best for you are different matters. On Briskoda there are more specialist sections and forums, for the Superb Mk3, Superb Guides, Superb Projects, then non-model specific forums like this one in the General Forums section. - https://www.briskoda.net/forums/

Anyone new to a model or type of car I've always suggested reasding and refering to the car's 'Owner's Manual', even before buying the car, as it can tell you such much about the car, and it's (minimum/not enough usually) servicing and maintenance requirements. Then when you have the car reading it and refering to it can often save you time, money and hassle especially for unecessary visists to garages, mechanics and auto-electricians and you will know more about your car than many long term owners. The publication isn't perfect, and VW don't put some information other car manufacturers freely give but it's usually a good place to start even for repairs.

If you don't have the paper printed version you can get a free VWŠkoda downloadable version from the VWŠkoda manuals website. - https://www.skoda-auto.com/apps/manuals/Models

A couple more official websites that might be useful are the VWŠkoda Recall Campaigns website (well those VW admitt to anyway) https://www.skoda-auto.com/services/recall-campaigns and the Update Portal. - https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com/

For modern cars (2017 is very modern to me) particularly those with stop/start and VW brands looking after the state of charge (and health) of the 12v battery is important, the VW computers are very fussy about this. Even if the headlights seem bright enough and the engine starts easily (the battery has to be very low indeed for the engine not to start) the 12v battery state of charge could too low for the computers and they can throw up all sorts of warning lights and messages, unseen error codes and unexpected issues with the car. Loads and loads of threads and posts about this for each model.

Often just driving the car isn't enough to keep the battery in a good state of charge as the VW battery system only normally charges the battery to about say 80% (to allow for the lip-service emmisions and fuel saving system). So if you prefer not to prematurely replace the expensive 12v battery(ies) and mess with 'coding' them then the occassional preventative use of an appropriate battery/charger maintainer to fully (to 100%) recharge is required, following the instructions in the car's 'Owner's Manual' and for the charger maintainer. The charger maintainer doesn't need to be an expensive one.

The Superb can have even more electric/electronic "aids", "assists" and conveience systems and parts on it than other models, and might have(?) a second battery to cope with all.

Last thing I bang on about is more general, good quality tyres in good condition (and at correect pressure), as tyres are complex components that are often overlooked and not fully considered, as they are are, vital parts of the braking, steering and suspension systems.

If you've read this far, 😄, that should be enough for one read. 😄 Good luck.

Thanks @nta16 yep i know theres more than just Amazon, but i (try) to weigh up price to when i "need" it with Amazon doing next day delivery that usely wins... unless ive got no time to fit it 😉

Yeah i downloaded the owners manuals for the 66, 67 and 69 cars incase there were diferences in the cars, as i was looking at ALL versions and models )hatch & estate) trying to find something i liked and was local ish (ended getting a car 100 miles away 🤪)

i went on the update portal as soon as i got my car, unfortunatly no updates available as the car is too "old" so found alternative links on this site and MIB-Helper updated some yesterday and still got some more to do but work is getting in the way,

id checked the recall page on sunday and according to that my car isnt affected by anything ( id previously had to have my mums DS3 and my Exeo airbags replaced)

i read about the battery problems ( cant remember if it was Octavia Fabia or Superb ) but as i live in a flat, i am trying to work out who i can "visit" and charge itup, as its been in a dealers forecourt for a while im sure there is a good chance it can do with a charge

ive got 1 more day of temp insurance so its going to be sitting for a week or so untill the V5 arrives and i can change the number plate 😁

and ive also booked it in for cam belt & WP DSG service & oil change, ( ive already done the filters , well not the fuel filter) in a couple of weeks

the tyres are neeehh, at the moment, some brand ive never heard of but im going to leave them for a couple of month untill ive "stopped playing" with the eco/confort/normal/sport setting as im sure its not doing the tyres any good 😇

oh and yes 2017 is a new car to me too, always had older cars as there wasnt anything i liked that was newer (in my limited price range) until i bought a 2010 Seat Exeo in 2016

now im fed up changing suspension arms ( had 2 passats previously) so want for a Superb ( ive got VCDS, not that ive done much with it 🤪)

and if you've made it to the end of this reply...... just be aware it only this long so i can propely respond to your post ... ( please edit underlined coment to read: "i did it to get my own back😝😝) and that i fell asleep twice typing it 😴😴
