Is the rings an issue here

Oil pan seal ?

Are you getting blue grey smoke which would point to rings. Maybe a compression test. Another thought would be if its doing short runs and too many failed dpf regens it will over time dilute oil with diesel which may be getting past turbo seals or getting dumped into intercooler. Once oil gets thin it disappears pretty quickly but I would assume car would be smoking badly

10-12 ltrs between services??? Those are oil changes in themselves....that's not normal. My new to me Kodiak 1 (2020) has needed about 700ml, straight after collecting it from the dealers in May, and now at 3'500 Klms it needs about 500 Mls, but as I'm planning on changing the oil and filter this week, no need to top it up. But, I'll be keeping a good eye on it. Anyone any ideas or suggestions on what else I need to keep an eye on? All contributions greatly received.....😀 Thanks, Jim

Approx 12000km between services

Thats working out at roughly 1litre per 1000km/650miles!!. At that rate if you are burning it you would definitley have blue grey smoke and I doubt your DPF or CAT would be working anymore or about to fail. Check its not collecting on undertray or perhaps being dumped into intercooler and also make sure the correct oil is being used at service

At that rate of use, I'd be getting just a little worried about having a runaway!

@ashefield did you get to the bottom of the issue? I'm having the same problem and the garage has been useless in diagnosing it!

Looks like no solution to my issue, except engine rebuild, which is much too expensive. Went to all options of high oil consumption and no difference it made. It was always serviced regularly so I'm told rings are an issue in 2.0L skoda octavia models mark 3.

I'm topping up for now when needed.

Skoda should have taken responsibility for those inferior engines on mark 3 models

I think your rings get some issue.

Maybe you can use some 45%PEA to try to reduce carbon on the rings, though it's hard to solve this problem.

The worst situation is replacing rings.
