Had the 2012 Fabia Mk2 with a intermittent engine light problem, OBDii scanner states: P0441 Evaporation emission system incorrect purge flow. This only occurs occasionally, the error came on once in Feb 26, then again June 26 and now the light came on again yesterday. Could this be the N80 purge valve sticking intermittently or another issue, the randomness of it does not point to a major problem and I'm not happy to give it to a garage to charge me stupid money to investigate.

Is it worth changing the purge valve or should I be looking towards something else?

Does this intermittent fault appear immediately after refueling?

Check the fuel cap sealing gasket.

Could also be due to overfilling with petrol and some is in carbon caniste but i think it would happen more often. If the fuel cap is good a new N80 valve is around £20 and easy to change. Got a bosch one for my sons mk1 for £15 off amazon. Check that any pipes are secure and not split.

Random times, not after fueling, have changed OEM fuel cap. Could be N80 valve but surely it would be stuck open or shut, not intermittent!?

It could be sticking randomly but also might be a broken wire/dodgy connector to it thats sometimes not making contact. Check wiring for wear/breaks etc and inspect hoses for splits etc.
