A VW Group Global Recall 2026.

Featured Replies

As with any Global or World Wide Recall with VW Group you need to check see if your vehicle is involved and The Globe includes the EU / Europe / UK and not just a Service Campaign where eventually you get a RECALL message or not. Skoda Secret Service Service Campaigns. Need to know basis. The Dealership Service Receptionists might not know.

Anyone seen any details on Skoda vehicles participation in this safety recall?

(translated by Google):

"A Skoda spokesperson told FOCUS online: “Internal quality checks have revealed that certain vehicles in some Škoda model series (Octavia, Superb, Kodiaq, Karoq) may have a deviation from the standard in the steering bolts.” The affected production period is week 11/2015 to week 8/2026. In Germany, this affects 370,879 vehicles."

(As of now, neither the Skoda Group nor Skoda Spain-specific recall websites match my VIN, an April 2020-manufactured last of the MkIII Facelift Scout).

Seen this on Reddit and a post on the Octavia forum. No news from Škoda directly as yet.

Interesting. Glad it was only a small period of 11 years-worth of production.

Some intern placed an order for the bolts and accidentally ordered 20,000,000 of the wrong type I reckon!

Looks like Skodas are affected then! Which bolt is this?

Tell more about this, location please

Hopefully I dodged a bullet. My Octavia was registered in about week 9 of 2015, so would have been manufactured a bit earlier.

There seems to be a couple of other threads about this steering bolt issue, not surprisingly as a range of models are affected:

I've just put my VIN (2018 Golf 7.5 GTI) into the main VW website as 17016R may affect me, and I just get red text saying it's not a recognised VIN:

So I phoned my local VW main dealer, who checked and advised there was nothing outstanding at the moment, but if that changed I would be contacted. Not completely inspired with confidence.

Reckon all the bolts on my old 1.9tdi are similar but its 19 year old.

Thats not good at all. You dont expect it on a 6 year old car unless its been parked in the sea.

I assume the same bolt is used on other parts of car as well so may take them some time to find and recall them all.

Following.

Nothing major as I check my nuts (and bolts) regularly, but still worth knowing. I'll ask around with my main dealer friends.

New upgraded bolts told to have better anticorrision protection. Some polimer shield. But i think Inox bolts will be better.

Earlier versions like on xour car had 4 bolts holding steering rack. Mqb2 have only 2 of them. Economy?

It is quite likely that these steering rack bolts are 'stretch' type - AFAIK, inox bolts might not work in that case.

Left hand drive vehicles only - so no recall expected in the UK, Australia,New Zealand, India, ...

Unless it’s a UK-registered LHD Octavia/Superb/Karoq/Kodiaq, I do not believe so, no.

It’s LHD only seemingly, which explains why there has been limited news over here.

Oh. That VWHub is UK/right-hand particular? Or is it global, and could be searched for ex-UK/ left-hand drive vehicles affected in other countries?

(I'm in Spain. I sit on the wrong side of my car :-) ).
