Anyone wanna buy a 1.8 16V Motor?????

Will update with a few more pics as the conversion goes along!

Can't wait :)

Steve

Excellent

Apart from 'just swapping in the engine', does it need different drive shafts and other drivetrain gear, or is that compatible?

Looks like an interesting project :D

Excuse my ignorance - what car is it going in ?

My guess would be the yellow corrado, like the yellow corrado in the avatar, and the yellow corrado in the photo :D

 Aye That would be the one :D

Well I have avatars and signatures turned off ;)

A nice change from a straight VR6 swap though.

Suprisingly the Turbo lump bolts straight onto the existing mounts! Just have to beef them up somewhat!

Can Use my existing drive shafts, Just need to change the 20VT gearbox input flanges with 110TDi ones and they will mate straight up:thumbup:

Since the C is already cable change and Hydraulic clutch don't need to mess about with that rubbish which is nice, so I can use the 20VT 'Box!

Just have the headache of finding a suitable Intercooler, routing the boost pipes, connecting the exhaust, and getting the wiring to work with my clocks etc!

I say just..................................:rofl::D

Looking good Steve. Who's doing the conversion for you and approx how much if you don't mind me asking? PM me if you like.

Steve, you may want to consider starting a journal here. In any case, looks like you're gonna have some good fun with it when it is finished

Anyone wanna buy a 1.8 16V Motor?????

Is it K-Jet or Digi?

And Is it the larger bore manifold?

the best of luck to you, this sounds like a great project.

when i did one ages ago i had to use the front crossmember from a corrado g60, which has a kind of recess where the front engine mount sits, because the front of the engine was a little too high. you could allways use the g60 mounts as well because these are made of a harder compound.

are you going to fabricate your own downpipe to join up to the turbocharger???

if not then look ar this site- quantum performance engineering

http://www.qpeng.com/products/vag_20v_conversion_parts/20v_conversion_down_pipes.html

they also do plug and play kits for digifant cars which include the ecu(mapped, ready for use) and the purpose made wiring loom, then there a lot less hassle with getting all the clocks working etc!

A Few more pics!

Rusty Battery Tray! Mmmmm Not Good!!!

DSC02414.jpg

Delete option on the wiring! Thats the stuff thats being skipped

DSC02419.jpg

Gotta Order a new Battery Tray from the stealers (Frickin'

that's quite unusuall to have that much corrosion on a rado, maybe its from years of careless re-filling of the washer bottle or somthing??

still a very promising project though, hope it all goes well.

Or prehaps a leaking battery.

Acid isn't exactly known to be nice to steel, and you can see the white crud where a leak has obviously occured.

Out of interest, is the motor DBW or cable throttle?

You going OE ECU or aftermarket?

Nice work either way :) I reckon it'll be a monster when you've finished!

Hi Josh,

It's an AUQ motor so has VVT and Fly-by-Wire throttle:thumbup: Need a nice bracket making up for the pedal assembly, gonna remount the water reservoir onto the other side too, to give a bit more room for the Cone filter!

De-transpondering the ECU so I can run Factory ECU and use my clocks etc

Hoping for 220-230Bhp when she's done :P

Good man...

Nice to see someone doing DIY on VVT DBW, I think you're going to be one of a very select crowd!

(Pretty much every car I saw with a 1.8T conversion that wasn't on the JBS stand at Inters this year was a cable throttle on after market management!)

You might or might not be interested in a certain tuner's Immobiliser Defeat program.... :)

Best of luck, and keep us posted!

APS fitted a TT engine is a Rallye engine a short while back.

Well done on the conversion beefy, looks like a top job.

What was the cost in the end? What gearbox you running?
