I have only just picked up this thread, only got a couple pages into it and can evidently see the assassination we're receiving here.

We have remapped TDi engines literally into the thousands and get issues VERY VERY rarely so to read a thread such as this is alarming for the obvious reasons. Regarding popping turbos, a certain silver vRS is to our knowledge the only one to have gone pop. We have remapped so many VAG cars which have had replacement turbo units when running standard mapping (i.e. before we even touch it) that to put our mapping down to 'popping turbos' is a little misleading.

As a side to the dyno outputs, we test all of our work on a MAHA dyno. We recently tuned a 225bhp Audi TT which when tested on an independant dyno it put out 222bhp remapped! The guy knew it was nonesense because he was outpacing his friends 300bhp imprezza turbo. When retested on another dyno it put out 284bhp.
