How are your retro-fit aero wipers getting on?

Featured Replies

I'll be replacing the Octavia wipers soon and have considered the retro-fit aero items.

I know some people here have had them on for some months - so how are they ?

Are you talking about the ones that fit on the standard arms or the whole arm/blade replacement with ones for a MK IV Golf?

I replaced the arms and blades on mine and have to say the OEM ones are the mutts nuts :D

Thinking of those that fit existing arms.

i have the ones that i replaced the arms and wipers and they r still brill :)

I looked at the retro fit ones and discounted them for two reasons:

- The standard arms were sat quite proud with them and the blades were not that well sat on the car i saw them fitted to. (An early Golf IV).

- The price of the blades was very high compared to the £18.99 for a front set of aerotwins from Halfrauds, so over a couple of pairs this would have paid for the arms.

I feel the need for a group buy for aero arms and blades....!

Can someone bring a noob up to spped with what these 'aero arms' are?

Is it like over on the Focus (shhh) owners club where they fit Clio rear wiper arms to get an aerodynamic look?

I've had the full kit (arms & blades) since I got the octy and they've been excellent, good performance and very quiet.

They're 'floppy' wipers that fit to the curve of the windscreen and are shaped aerodynamically to be forced onto the screen by the airflow as the car is moving.

The Aero are the floppy ones similat fitted to the New MK II Octy, but actually from a MK IV Golf.

The benifits that I see are :

- Better wipe.

- Less wind noise at speed

- No more annoying water splatters as the wash come off the wiper frame.

- Changing a blade is childs play

- The blades are easy to get hold of if you go the OEM route :)

And while you are at it some WD40/plusgas and a communal wiper arm pullers to save people braking things due to the lovely rusting together issue you get on the Octy wiper linkage.

I have got Trico Innovisions fitted to the Octy and the Furby and I have found them great. The wipe is excellent and they fit on the exiisting arms. They are on all of my family and friends cars as well now after the recommendation! :)

I opted for the MKVI set at £75 from vagparts, and I'm over the moon with them. Living in North Wales, and more so the last few weeks with the non stop heavy rain we've had, has just showed me how far superior they are.

I replaced my originals with Golf Mk4s a couple of months ago, and I am amazed with the improvement, well worth the money, looking for a replacement for the rear wiper now, anyone got the part numbers avail.

Another thumbs up from me

Well worth the money IMHO

Anyone got an idea of a price for the MKIV Golf ones?

Cheers

£75 delivered from VAG Parts IIRC

As a serious point there appears to be enough interest that it might well be worth people looking to do a group buy for 10 or more sets.

Was always wondering what aero wipers where and now i know. Would be interested in a group buy. :)

I already have them fitted, so I don't need another pair :).

Does somebody want to PM FlatFourBurble to check it's ok, give VAG Parts a call to see what they will do and get a list started?

I would deffo be interested in a group buy!

well if interest is really high then ill be up for it as my back wiper needs replacing asap

that must be at least 4 of us who want some.... who is the 'group' buy co-ordinator???

i volunteer you mate ;)

people do know it's front wipers only?

I think they're good but the blades don't seem to last as long as the original Octy ones.
