Edit to say: Kenny, do you have any piccies of your Mk2 (I know you posted some previously). Just fancy having a gander at a Mk2 again - discussions today have whet my appetite again... Ta

Ditto that. With the exception of my car the MK2 GTi is one of the best cars I have ever driven. My dad had a big bumper 16v that I used to 'borrow'.

See I do agree with some things....

MK2 Golf GTI 16v - Best car ever!

Ah Big Bumpers with integral foglights, rainbow trim, smoked rear lights, BBS alloys - the memories, the memories... Must admit though always preferred the 8V over the 16V. I've had a couple of valvers but you have to rev the nuts off them to get 'em shifting. 8V's a totally different animal - just ride that torque.

FAO Jimmy(sorry i dont know how to put the picture on without making it an attachment)

Kenny, Looks nice 'n' clean anyway. Are those wheels BBS splitties??

Can you feel the love in this room? :p

Yup. Looks like it.

In conclusion, we learned that:

Golfs are good and Octavias are similar but cheaper and not quite as nice on the inside.

Some people like to spend extra money to get a VW over a Skoda and other would like the spend the money on big-screen TVs, mountain bikes, children etc.

MKII Golfs are great.

If we travel back in time to 1934 and kill Hitler then Skoda would replace BMW as the prestige brand of choice.

You mentioned the MK5 in another thread didnt you???

I have a test drive booked this weekend as my local dealer has their demo delivered ready for launch at the end of month. Its the new 2.0 16v 140bhp TDI.

Should be fun ;)

Ah , Listers on the Broadway Road ..................if you see a yellow Octavia vRS about it's a fair bet it's mine .

Its best you get along to our monthly meetings then and join the other Octavia vRS we have ;)

German Quaility issues is what has turned Skoda into what it is today.

I have several issues with German quality. All VW have done is provide Skoda with the means to build cars which are more widely palatable to the pampered Western Europe taste. They are no more reliable than they ever have been, and if comments are to be believed, it's actually worsened.

I'm sure Huck will change his nick to Hug any time now... :D

Good summary. :D

But you left out the bit where we all - well, almost all of us - thought that the Mk4 Golf is a shadow of its illustrious predecessors and mostly driven by people who are keeping up with the Joneses instead of the facts. ;)

Sounds like you skoda boys are willing to take on the world with your traffic light grand prix.

I very rarely race at traffic lights' date=' as i get fed up with people in Novas, cossies, tvr's, trying to race me. (I wonder if Mr. ffelan has forget about the 3 times in warrington where he tried and failed in his tuscan). At least when you drive a skoda (no discrispect intended) it is a little bit less of a magnet for these boy racers than my scooby.

si :D[/quote']

ooooh, which Sooby and are you in warrington. I love blasting newer cars in my 20 year Old saab.

just kidding. Who else is in/arround warrington?

Forget I said anything

Peace.
