Tyre Recommendations?

Featured Replies

I'm going to have to replace at least 2 of the tyres on my Edition 100 very shortly. Think mine are 225 / 17.

Any recommendations?

Would like one's that last longer than 13,000 miles and are good in the wet! I'm expecting to pay around

I spent weeks shopping around but was worth while found a cracking web site [url="http://www.tyretraders.com"i paid£58 each for Nokian 205/50/17 y which according to my tyre fitter is a bargin, site states 3-5 days for delivery but mine arrived in less than 24 hours definately worth a look.

We run a couple of taxi's and go through tyres like you wouldn't believe. We put some budgets on our A6 last time and although they seem to last ok there was a lot of road noise from them and the handling was quite badly effected. We've just changed them again and have gone for michelin primacy's. These were only 16's but cost

BF Goodrich g Profile , so sos quiet , and great wet grip , have alook on my tyres , at the test results , picked up 4 off 16 for the octy at lessthan 70 each .

I have put Good Year F1 225/40 17 on mine. What a diffrence !Very quiet, the only noise I can hear is the engine and som turbulence from the mirrors. And very good performance too.

Recommended !!!

Out of interest, how much did they cost?

Thanks

Chris

I live in Norway,I paid 4700 nok or abbout 390 pund for 4 .

I had Bridgestones originally on mine, now run Conti SC2's on the front, and Conti SC on the rear. The noise levels are so much lower, grips in the wet, handles and rides so much better.

Will stick with Conti's now for mine.

I ran a set of Kumho Ecsta tyres for about 22k on the front, not bad for £42 a piece!

This was on my former Superb which was a 1.9 TDi

We've just changed them again and have gone for michelin primacy's. These were only 16's but cost £95 each from kwik fit. We last had these on the back of our 3 series and they last nearly 50,000 miles. Worth spending as much as you can, you will notice the difference.

Ben.

I also run my Superb as a taxi and would highly recommend the use of some Hankook Ventus 205/16's. They are amongst the quietest tyres I have ever had on a car, and the performance isn't bad either. Keep a keen eye on the pressures and they won't let you down.

Bought mine online from mytyres have look at these £45.80 Bargain! Or these around £60 and good all round tyre. Just noticed there's also a sport version.

You also get free delivery in around 5-9 days. I've bought from them several times and had no problems.

I've got a 2.5v6tdi and have changed from the budget ones that were on it when bought 2nd hand.

Now got Pirelli P6000 (the wave design) and the difference in road holding is sensational. No wonder they are OE on so many mid-high performance saloons (BMW, Merc, Jag etc)

I had ****ty Nexens on mine when I bought it. Was never impressed with the cars handling.

When they wore out I put Conti Sport Contacts on it. My word, it's a differnt car! Loads less road noise, handles like a different car.

I paid about

I'm looking to replace the front tyres on my Octavia 2.0 TDi PD fitted with a great DSG box. It's done nearly 15k in 12 months of ownership on Contis which I've been disappointed with - my previous Octavia did more than twice that over three years on one set. I'm looking at Kumho's as they're supposed to be good value. Any thoughts anyone ?

hi all.

I've got to get 2 new front tyres and cash is tight (just had a cambelt change and full service). My Elegance currently has 4 x 225/45 R17 on it, but could it run ok on 205/55 R16's?

thanx

Bridgestone Turanzas. I've just swapped mine after 54000 miles. Needless to say, I bought some more.

I'm currently running 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Premacy's on mine (fitted OE to the 05 Superb my alloys came off) and they really are excellent, albeit expensive to buy.

They would have been replaced with Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's until I found out Goodyear are stopping making the Eagle F1 so now it's back to the drawing board. They really are an excellent tyre, the best money can buy IMHO.

RIP :(

Erm, not unless you change your wheels for 16".

oh err yes of course (HAVING A THICK MOMENT THEN).

o, what's the suggestions for 225/45/R17, bearing in mind cash is tight?

In 225/45/17, Nokian V are 30% cheaper and as good as the best Michelins

You could also use narrower 205/50/17 Nokian V for further 10% price drop, and better ride comfort / lower fuel consumption.

My personal favourite is Nokian Z G2 though, but then I mostly drive close enough to the "V" rating to prefer the "Z" rated tyres :)

Note that these are reputable tyres with very good performance, on par with Michelins, but with lower road noise and better in the wet. They are also reinforced, which matters for the heavy Superb and means you pump them up to 3/4 of sidewall rating, and not right up to the limit as for e.g. most Pirellis.

For lowest price and corresponding safety and ride quality, there's plenty of budget tyres in each size at tyres online @ mytyres.co.uk: cheap passenger tyres, summer tyres, winter tyres and tyre dealer

I have used them for tyre purchases for the last 5 years or so.

I'll also vote for 225/45x17 Michelin Pilot Premacy - Good quality and very little road noise. Changed the fronts at about 30k (

We always fit Dunlop 2000E to my wifes Superb which we get from Blackcircles.com about

Yes I agree with you on using "Z"s as they do give a better feel/grip than their, in my case "W" equivalent - to late for me I'm afraid as I went back to "W"s without thinking (stupid) - and I've used mytyres in the past without any problems. My "problem" is that I have a Costco card - so that means cheap Michelins!

That's where I went in the end. Got some Michelin Primacy's for
