If my Russian's as good as I think it is , E-E doesn't have much to worry about.

Don't know how the filler kneck is fastened into the engine, but is it possible that this has been 'unseated' causing the oil leak?

i thought that the filler neck was cast as part of the rocker cover on the pd130 engine?? i may be wrong tho?

Sorry to hear about this Emily, but by the sounds of it you've cheered up alot of car enthusiasts on different sites!

By the sounds of it the suspension is not to badly damaged and probably just needs adjusting. The fabias do have a habit of not driving straight anyway, seem to be sensitive to the road camber. Something i would be worried bout is the oil filler neck espcially as it sounds like oil/ steam has leaked out. Try and give that a check over to make sure it is seccure

Think its a bit harsh that people are having laughs on other forums.

Hmm now if i had been at work I would have read this thread.

Off work, and have a set of croppers that probably would have cut straight through the brace.

Glad we fixed the car today!!!!

The strut brace had deformed really nicely - seems to be no effect to the chassis at all... thank god. Still worth getting an alignment check done mine.

One of the lugs on the extended filler neck had bent up, meaning there wasnt an air tight seal - hence the smoke from the 'bay. All was adjusted with a Corsa Key, and alas all is well.

Nick did a smashing job of changing the punctured tyre too... and she is also proudly displaying a vRS Briskoda silver tax disk holder too!!!

The bonnet shut gaps are still spot on, the car didn't seem to be driving erratically - although it did take one or two cones out and as Tom reports, the oil filler is all fixed now.

The car had it's alignment done and it was a little out, but no more than is expected. They pointed out that my bushes were exsessively worn for a 30k mile car, and fingers crossed that is going to be done under waranty on wednesday. At the same time it will have the camber aligned.

the bushes are probably worn because of having stiffer than normal suspension fitted (you got eibach's havn't you???) in which case the warranty will tell you to take a running jump!!!!

the bushes wear out quicker when you have stiifer suspension because instead of the dampers taking the shock the bushes do instead.....

oh and the camber isn't adjustable on a fabia....

What is adjustble?

When I was looking at Emilys car yesterday I looked like all she had done was nocked the Tracking out so should be easily fixed

can't work out how the tracking gets knocked through the strut brace

wheels are like | / not | | when lookin down on them

no niether can i???? iirc the top mounts have a bearing race between the mount and the top spring plate which allows the spring plate to turn. so if the strut brace has twisted the top mount slightly it will have no effect.

i imagine the tracking was slightly off to start with.

but having worn suspension bushes will cause a slight difference to the caster/camber geometry.
