Re-mapped vRS re-insurance woes....

Featured Replies

I thought it would be farily straight-forward, but it looks as if my renewal quote of 924 isn't actually too bad

Adrian Flux wanted over 1100quid! -apparently because of the increased engine power (they're supposed to insure modified cars???...) and the postcode (despite the city I live in, my house is actually in a very quiet cul-de-sac).

Any others to try?

Is it worth joining Briskoda for Chris Knott policy?

Depends who were underwriting the Adrian Flux policy as Chris Knott are likely to be using similar....

Chris

Royal and sun Alliance, apparently...

Grrrrrr. Although I like the car, I'm seriously considering whether or not it's worth the insurance. A Mondeo TdCi hatch would do the job almost as well.

Come to think of it, a mate in the next road pays 1400quid for his (driven like a grandad ;) ) 225 TT....

They always ask for marital status. Are husbands less, or more, of a risk than unmarried blokes like myself?

My GFs insurance dropped when I was added on as a partner, but she increases mine!!

give Brentacre a try.

They got me a policy with Ensign - ok, it's a VW, but it's designed for a modified vehicle - as long as I don't go over 180bhp, I can do anything to it.

Much cheaper than offerings from Chris KNott and Flux.

And given I've had 3 windscreen replacements and 1 repair from them, I've had my moneys worth and then some.......

Try admiral.

Always been cheap on my cars (modified Octavia included) and my brothers modified Defender.

Put your mum/girlfriend/wife/mistress on there as a named driver ;)

mine was with royal sun alliance until tuesday as i told you in the other post they quoted me nearly 1100 quid try norwich union online

Put your...girlfriend....on there as a named driver ;)

That would have increased my old policy by 100quid.

I'll try Admiral.

....oh, but Admiral are 'only' £1145 with girlfriend as additional driver.... interesting. I wonder if my Mother would make it even cheaper?

jesus lord thats a bit steep

Exactly!

The irony is that when i lived at my folks' fairly 'low-risk' suburban postcode my then car was occasionally damaged. At my 'M' postcode it's never been interfered with

Get married - that knocked £12 off with Direct Line.

Paying

seemingly about as much as it depends on which way the wind is blowing and how the dice land when rolled...insurance companies are mainly scamming b@str@rds :thumbdwn:

Within about 5 minutes, I got quoted more for a Leon Sport than a FRS with the same company

But a couple of mates have had really good quotes with greenlight

Paying 350 for remapped 4x4 with Adrian Flux protected NCD etc. Mind u I am 47 clean license full NCD and live in the stickx.

Stop. I don't want to know! ;)

....oh well, I guess that a couple of hundred extra on the car insurance due to postcode is off-set by the many thousands of quid lower house prices!

I only paid ~500 quid for a 2.0 Focus though.

I'll try Greenlight tomorrow.
