What colour do I spray the car

Featured Replies

This is something I have been pondering for some time

Those of you who know my Octy will know its currently a Tricolour Siver Pearlescent with all the plastic bits colour coded. Its basically Silver but has subtle shades of Purple & Green.

The cars due a respray in the next few weeks, its badly stone chipped, some little urk has also gouged the back door (& I hit a post with the back wing)

As its a full respray theres the option to change the colour, the sprayshop are very keen on a Candy Orange, its something like the Focus ST colour but with a flake in it. Just wondered if there are any thoughts.

They are due to spray a custom Van & a F150 Pickup in the Orange shortly so I will be able to see the colour on a large vehicle (the Octy 1 has a lot of panel area)

The only downside to the Orange that I can see is the Engine bay will have to stay Silver (the doors & shuts arent a problem to match) & it makes the car stand out a bit more in the unlikely event that I drive too quickly. Also as it will be the second full respray it wont take another one without a full strip back so whatever I chose Im stuck with it

Anyone any thoughts

Hmmm, decisions, decisions. I do like the orange colour on the few Focus STs that I have seen around and I'm sure it would work well on a Octy, but difficult to know whether you're going to like it (enough to live with it everyday) until its done. And of course I guess you don't want it looking like a Maxxed Saxo or Corsa. If I were in the market for a respray, I think I'd take my yellow Octy that bit further with some sort of metallic while keeping it in the yellow specturm.

The decision's yours Stuart.

MK2 Octavia Race blue ;) Or maybe even that MG Rover purple/blue/gold/green flippy colour scheme.

I would put a proper WRC spoiler on it and spray it Subaru blue :D

Asbo orange would certainly different...

Race Blue. No contest

Vote for race blue here.

Barbie Pink, don't forget the interior highlights and furr fabric dash :D

Hmm, tough one.

I think Orange would be ace, but a little too in-your-face perhaps?

Race blue would be amazing...

Something aggressive would be nice, don't go for flippy imho.

Worst thing you could have said, The other choice which we have just discounted is the Metallic Yellow as used on a few TVR's which I understand is a crib of the Lambo colour

As for Blue suggested by others, I just dont do Blue or red.

Lee might need the grill now, along with a bumper, Radiator, headlights, etc etc for the other Octy :thumbdwn: :thumbdwn: will let you know

Thinking about it, a really sparkly flaky yellow would suit the car perfectly imho.

any pics of your car knocking around in its current form??

   NO NO NO

Tough call indeed Stuart.

I also like the Yellow on the Octy, some added flake would make it stand out just brilliantly.

I also like the Orange idea but I think it may age fairly quickly.

I'd look at some of BMW's colours; the M3 Purple - dont know the name but it reminds me of the purple foil you get around a cadbury's bar of chocolate :o

FOr someone that 'doesnt do blue' again have a look at some of the past BMW colours - Laguna Seca being one of my favs again.

PLEASE BEAR IN MIND WHEN READING MY VIEWS ON COLOUR I DRIVE AN OCEAN GREEN 4X4. :P

Galleio Fly (spelling) - very nice shade of yellow!

If I was going orange, i'd go old skool - non-metallic like Signal Orange Ford used to use on the RS's.

With Anthracite/gunmetal alloys - would look nice imo.

Ive seen a yellow one with red flames down the side, didnt look too bad but thats just a tadge too far from subtle for me. There again I guess Candy Orange is probably heading that way as well.

Taken in July, its in a soft light so looks more purple than it does in full light

ahh your the furball man... yup saw u shoot past me at dover earlier in the year... looks silver in normal light. I like it.

Well if u don't like blues/reds...... its gotta be orange no question.

Orange Octavia, black strips (painted though) black grill and tints.

Would look ace :)

Stripes IMO are becoming the latest "trendy thing" to have & a bit "Ford" so I will avoid those. I will await the candy Orange vans before I decide, I think it might be a tadge LOUD! we will see

When he says "strips", I *think* he means door rubbings strips.

Hmm, aggressive black and orange combo... sounds sweet.

I think a metallic grey similar to 'Silverstone' Grey on the S2000 combined with a red leather interior retrim.

Other colours I like is the metallic orange found on some Clio's and Liquid yellow again found on some renaults.

White is the big thing at the moment and you can pretend you are a police car.

I think pearlescent white would look good.
