Am still negotiating on this one - hopefully will be able to come along although will be absolutely terrified this being my first track day (scared of doing something to my car but probably even more scared of doing something which affects someone else & their car  ).

Anyway, might it be worth asking the Skoda Club Uk lot along? Thought it could be fun to see some of the older Skuda around the track and looking at their site they seem to ahve some guys that do do regular track days.

Sounds like a plan :D

Thought it could be fun to see some of the older Skuda around the track.... .

...you mean Denis? ;)

Old, not vintage :D

This isn't the antiques road show :D

Sounds like a plan :D

Have emailed their track-day organiser and told him to come onto the site (have given him the link to the thread) if he thinks there would be interest. :) ... and Adrian I was not meaning Denis - I don't want one of those grumpy smileys looking out at me :D

how many more do we need now???

si

My "O" Level maths says 10....plus a few more to be safe due to a few uncertain types ;)

just doing my bit

Obvious Question, Helmets, I assume they will be required for the track, anyone know the definative answer, also are they required on the handling course & can you do the handling course complete with the family in the car ?

Hemlets will be required, they are at every track event. I believe that if they don't enforce the wearing of helmets, it will invalidate the organisers public liability insurance.

Si

As I guessed, just wondered as RPM def dont need helmets if youve got a "tin" roof 7 also having never been to Bruntingthorpe I am not sure what the handling course entails

The rpm tour is not strickly a trackday as such, more of a spirited drive with a very small amount of track action.

The rpm tour should also take a bit more time to explain the rules of the track (overtaking, flags etc) before letting first timers out on track.

All major dedicated trackday events are part of the ATDO (Association of Track Day Organisers) who have strict rules on safety at the venues. I'm sure that if you don't have a skid lid, there will be a few to borrow, and also quite a few people bring spares anyway.

si

RPM is a "tour". This is a track day or "observed track driving experience" which has different rules. Not sure about the wet handling course though

Can the organisers please state if a lid is mandatory?

A lid is mandatory.

But they will provide LIDS at bruntingthorpe, you do not need to go out and buy one just for this day, but it is handy if your doing or attending events on a regular basis.

Check out the Group Buy section....

...DT doing lids for as little as £55.

I'm sure we can get a "mixture" Group Buy going.

I've also mailed Erik at AAT for prices etc.

Ok so lids are required, thats clear & we have lids so no problem.

As regards my other question, & to expand it slightly, what are the rules re passengers, both on track & the handling course. The reason I ask is Ive not attended many track days but the rules seem to vary considerably, Ive seen cars with 6&7 year old kids in, Ive been to Italy where it was strictly driver only.

I guess driver +1 passenger in the front is OK but are rear seat passengers allowed & is there a height/age limit for kids & lastly are the rules different for the track & the handling course.

Ive already spoken to a Briskodian & thanks for that who has given me a good idea but I am just looking for "the definative" answer.

Its going to be hard to bring a Petrol head son & then leave him sitting in the pits

Been at Bruntingthorpe before, 3 up doing 150+

Usual limit is about 12 (not sure for this day)

Assume would be OK with a lid

Stuart - I've emailed the bigthunder people, who seem to run the eventing side of bruntingthorpe - to enquire about your question and about helmet hire too. As soon as I get a reply I'll post it.

www.bigthunder.co.uk if it helps.

( Although for all I know this trackday could be being organised through someone else... )

Thanks Jon, I assume you mean 12 years old & not 12 up,

"thinks" now how many can you get in a fabia doing 100, record attempt anyone,
