RWD options?

Q - have you won the lottery or something? Regarding fuel - if you went for a big engine and got 20mpg on 33k miles per year you would be paying almost £7k on petrol! That's just under £11,000 off your salary before tax just on fuel - let alone running costs (which will be high beleive me) are you mad??? (well we know you're mad :D )

Can't believe how cheap Boxsters are now. Can't believe they would be boring:eek:

I must be the only person in the world who thinks.'Monaro.Storming engine but looks like a big old carlton/omega.Very dated

Boxters IMO if you get a good un are a good buy

Re the Monaro, yep looks are a bit boxy but stick a sports exhaust on it & its got real attitude :) :)

I think you will find that the new VXR has almost 500bhp (493 officially). Good value at

Yeah, and only

Q

Drove a 130i last night, SE spec. At BMW dealer in Blackpool for 18995.

Absolutely fantastic. Great car. For those on the Beacon Hill meet a few months back (the one where Paramedic and I got lost and didnt make it to Beacon Hill) I drove it along Singleton lanes, those lanes we went down with Shifty just outside Blackpool.

Got the damn thing airborne over one of the humps.

The car went tons quicker round the corners than my Fabia vRS ever did (no surprise I guess). Very neutral handling, easy to get the power on early. An absolute hoot.

The only thing that put me off was a MGFV of 8900 after three years...

Q,

ZT 260 - change for x power zorsts. change plenum.

reliability is not an issue as long as you accept the a/c is not the best (mine was always good though) really would suggest you drive one.. bear in mind I went to one from 2 x tuscans and a 996 and was never left feeling bored.

and the noise is something else. also bear in mind 4k will supercharge it and take it to 400+

K, had a better look at the ZT260 as I know you loved it, but I just spotted

Servicing

12 months / 15,000 miles (ZT260 5000/12 months)

Every 5K miles a service? I'd be servicing it every 2 months

Q, a 5k service on that motor is just an oil and filter change ;)

Have a scout round on some Mustang forums, I think you will find that what the yanks call a 'major toon-up service' is probably only due at 60k or 100k

But as I said before, personally I would go with the 5.7

I did have a look at the 130i too, but I dunno, it is just not special enough for me. The Monaro is definately out though as I can't afford the insurance premium on it. Group 20 for one car is not the same as group 20 for another car... I don't get it myself :(

I believe group 20 has no upper ceiling ;)

Yeah, I kind of got that impression a little too.

A certain BMW car in insurance in group 19 nudge nudge ;) ;) is surprisingly digestible though :D

It's still number 1 :D

Some good suggestions though, but apart from the ZT260, nothing I hadn't considered myself at one point or another. If only I had parking space for 3 cars ;)

That would be it then... Daytime robbery if you ask me.

Another thought Z3 M Coupe? Storming drive.

Chris

This was my first choice. I say was, as today I tried one on for size and although the seats were very comfortable, the space between steering wheel and console was so small, my left leg was literally stuck in between :(

Time to find out more about the rest...

Dont try an Elise then Q, I did sunday and I could barely fit (I had a Z3 and found it like a tardis* in comparison to the Lotus).

*may be a slight exaggeration but you know how it is...

A Mini with a V-Tec or 16V 2.0 Vauxhall motor in it.

I've driven a 2.0 Vauxhall Mini and third gear is like the funniest joke you ever heard, i've never really laughed so manically before. To quote my 11 year old son when it was spinning up at 90 mph in 4th in the wet "S*d the bike Dad i want one of these!!"

Whoops, sorry, its FWD!

I've already tried an Elise about 4 years ago and wasn't even able to lower myself into the seat. Dunno why, but I sort of hoped that I have become more agile as I got older ;)

The mini just doesn't do it for me, every woman and her dog is driving one...

Was just looking at a Smart Roadster, but the most they seem to get out of it is around 115bhp, which although admirable, is just not impressive enough. The bike engine conversions don't seem to be reliable enough.

The Mini i'm talking about has 175BHP and is seriously fast and very grippy.

I think he means a real mini:D

In that case, every student is driving one... :P

Ah! Someone who appreciates the difference between a New Mini and a REAL Mini.

Much the same way as some people appreciate a "real" volkswagen ;)

Had two mate, a '67 1300 and a '71 1300. More luggage space in a proper Beetle than in a new one too.
