Cant believe the new Beetle has more space though - but I guess the spare tyre doesnt take up half the boot space in an old one (and tyre weld wont work screen washers very well ;))

No mate, the new Beetle has LESS luggage space than the old one!!

lol, went to tesco in a collegue's new beetle...because the dash is seriously about 3 feet deep it feels kinda small inside and the boot is pretty teeny too - one eMac pretty much took up half the boot

:)

At the risk of Hi-Jacking this thread even further, we used to be able to get a suitcase in the front "boot" and one in the luggage space behind the back seat in and old Beetle, i dont reckon you could fit one of the suitcases in the boot of the new one coz the boot lid wouldnt shut.

Being an M3 owner myself i would say go with the beemer great fun to drive with shed loads of torque and a quirky rear..!!! or even a 330 club sport (Very rare but near as damn as good as the M and slightly cheaper, usually very good spec also)

I dunno. I find most of the Mercs so incredibly bland to look at that they might just as well be invisible. Especially in silver. No idea what performance they have though.

this one is the 160bhp model.

Q Have you driven an M3? I'd be interested in a road test report as not many on here can get past the BMW badge without hoying a seven.

I know they're common and favoured by wideboys but there must be some reason why they always get 5 out of 5 and are the benchmark for other sporting saloons.

I haven't driven any car yet. I still have a bit of hope I will be able to get into a Z3 M Coupe, so I'm going to see one (for the 3rd time) on Sunday... but this time I'll drive it :)

Oh, and the budget is £15K, not £20K...

this one is the 160bhp model.

Only 60 bhp less than the Octavia he's just sold, then

Good luck with the S50 viewing this weekend. Let us know how it is to drive!

Without wanting to jack the thread too much, my Fabia went last night so the scourge of Autotrader (and similar websites) has begun!

Finally drove the Z3 M Coupe on Sunday... and although the steering wheel/leg situation didn't prove that much of a problem whilst driving, the headroom does. I would have to forfeit on trackdays just to own it :(. So I'm ruling with my head and not my heart on this one and banish every thought of ever owning one out of my life :weeping:

Next up, the 350Z.

Just get a TVR and be done ya big clog wearing jessie :haha:

 Good man.

Still think the seats will be too tight for you - unless I have an unusually broad mid back.

I've seen this absolutely stunning Tamora.... but 6K mile service schedules are waaaay to short. I bet it would love the long journeys though... And insurance was actually cheap as chips

Will find out this afternoon :)

Make sure you drive with window open/roof down..... then go find a tunnel/bridge ;)

Make sure you drive with window open/roof down.....

... surely that's a bit extreme just because he is a bit tall for the car  ;)

I think he'll find the Roadster windscreen frame too low. Q must be a good 3" taller than me and I used to adopt a slouch when driving because the top of the frame is in the way. As you suggest, he could keep the roof open and look over the top

I suspect the Coupe may be better but it'll still be close for him.

Try the TVR :D

To hell with the expense, they are awesome

And when it kills you, can I have it?

How about a merc c180 kompressor. I know the guy who has this one for sale.

I think he's after something a little faster than a slug with rear wheel drive.....?:thumbdwn: Plus something a little more reliable than a Mercedes-Breakdown.
