Rally Mudflaps for VRS

Featured Replies

Right I know this topic has come up before a couple of times, but I am really interested in some Rally style mudflaps for my VRS.

The reason is that I notice that all the splashes of mud and road cr4p down the side of the car seems to originate from the front tyres. On the VRS tyres stickout from the body work of the car and when it rains the tyres just throw the water up onto the side of the car. This is also a similar issue with the rear tyres, they also stick out from the rear bumper slightly and throw dirt up the back of the car.

Now I know what you are going to say "the car will still get mucky"...yes it will but not as much as it does, others may say "just wash the car"....I do wash the car and most of the time it is only the side of the car that is dirty at the end of the week.

So has anyone got any pics of a VRS with Rally flaps on?

Also what colour? Black or Skoda Green? ..... skoda decals or no decals?

I am not going for the rally look just a cleaner car that also looks as respectable as possible without been OTT.

any ideas where I can get some from?

thanks

Chris

is there any need for this? try to be objective. some knives and fork don't look attractive (some don't anyway;) ) but they do a job, similarly to mudflaps, they are designed to do a job, aslong as t

  • I'm sorry - but have you had your eyes removed? That looks quite frankly - ****! You have ruined that car. The black ones are no better. They look like a cheap slut's vinyl mini skirt with vRS badges

If you don't want anything over the top, and Don't want the rally look. Then what's wrong with the Original Skoda flap's?

I start a tread on Mud flaps a while ago............The Skoda mud flaps are to short and not wide enough. I'd be intrested in some differant ones

Yes the originals are far too short and not wide enough, plus the back dont fit properly any way so instead of bodging standard ones I might aswell bodge ones that will do the job properly. The Standard flaps are simply not effective at what they are supposed to do.

I want mudflaps that will minimise tyre flick up onto the car. Everytime I come to wash the car there is dirt in the same places up the side of the car (most of which is definitly from the front tyres), I know the back will always get dirty due to the aerodynamics of the hatch back.

When I first drove the car in the wet I was suprised to see drops of water flying past the window of the car from the wheels when turning a corner.

The front ones are ok, their main job isn't to stop normal mud etc, but it's to stop stone chips, tar marks etc.

The back ones wont make any difference to the amount of crud building on the rear boot, the only reason they are on again is to stop stone chips/tar marks - when I did my guide for fitting the rear flaps I hoped that it would reduce the amount of muck building up on the rear, but it doesn't. It's all that smog thats coming from that exhaust that rises & poor aerodynamics that makes the back dirty on a weekly basis.

I also think the rear mudflaps are a doddle to fit. It takes about 15 minutes to safely cut the bumper by the 1cm needed round the edge then the mudflaps fit straight on. Also your cut marks are not visible as it's such a) a clean line B) on the inside of the wheel arch so no one could tell.

Interestingly though the Mondeo ST TDCi exhaust points straight the same as the vRS except for it's actually got a cut on the underside of the exhaust to fire all that black smog downwards and not straight out of the back like the vRS.

The only rally style mud flaps that I have seen for sale are the Sparco ones (about £15 IIRC). I have only seen them in red, blue or white though and they need cutting to the right shape. I agree that they must cut down the amount of crud on the car purely because they are much bigger than the skoda ones. IMO the rear ones would also look better.

I have emailed performancecreations.co.uk as they create some nice rally style mudflaps for other warm/hot/scortching hatches and I have asked them if they could/would create some customized mudflaps for the VRS.

Some of the example pieces of work on that site are great, the focus st in orange looks great with the mud flaps on, if not a bit strange at first, they also do them for honda ctr , fiesta st, again which look good and loads of other cars.

To be honest they look good quality and worht the money

I will keep you posted and see what they say as I'm sure other on here want proper fitting VRS mud flaps that work.

I have a reply form performance creations and without posting the email on here they say that they are definitly looking into doing the Skoda Range Fabia VRS and Octavia VRS versions. They have also said that there has been alot of interest in this product for Skoda's and they are also keen on doing them for the Octavia as they are interested in the VRS themselves

They also should be able to do green similar to the calipers.

If they do a good job and they look to fit really well then i'm definitly going to get some.

anyone else going to be interested?

i would be, scince i have put the spacers on the back and the front i cant keep the side of the car clean, let alone the black stuff that keeps appearing on the back when i boot it :D

I'd be interested too, keep us informed...:)

Update,

it loks unlikely they will be able to get green or yellow mudflaps as they buy in bulk at 1.5 tons a go !! so that would be many people wanting that colour.

so looks like they can do black, which may be cool for black VRS's, im guessing they can do the other colours that are on the site, blue, red, white, and black.

They are moving to a new unit but are looking to go over to the skoda dealership next week sometime. he is going to keep me posted.

Cheers Chris, thanks for all the hard work. I'm still definately interested and maybe not for just green ones.

TBH i would probably prefer black ones because i dont think green would go on a red fabia considering the calipers have been done red aswell :D , i wouldnt mind Red tho
