Is it worth kicking off.....

Featured Replies

Had the VRS in for first service a few weeks back. Just opened up the bonnet today and noticed a couple of things.

1) When servicing they have obviousley had the engine cover off, and when they have put it back on they have not clipped it under the rubber stopper at the top, instead they have forced it round the rubber stopper - as a result the rubber stopper is almost cut in half.

2) Because the engine cover was not correctly seated, it has worn a gash into one of the large hoses coming from the intercooler. It has not gone right through, but i know its there and its annoying me. Do you think i should kick off with the dealer and get both bits replaced?

Will

I would definately pop in and bring these items up politely, and then find another garage to see to my servicing in future.

I'd definitely mention it to 'em, see what they say

Just a polite query would suffice... I'm sure they'll be quick to apologise.

I'd mention it, but I'm not sure if you'll get anywhere. For all they know, you could have done the damage and be trying to blame their "highly trained" mechanics....

Chris

deffo go back and tell them your concerns , especially as the intercooler pipe may split and cause a breakdown in the future

definitly go back and tell them but i wouldn't expect much, maybe if you had noticed it within a few days.

Hell yeah!!

My vRS had a service at a main dealer and they took two chunks out of the front bumper as they dropped it off the ramps:eek:  , lickily I checked the car over before I asked for the keys, the pr!ck in charge of servicing denied all knowledge of causing the damage so I blocked the drive way to the fourcourt with my dads L200 pick up causing all sorts of problems for nearly an hour until they owned up to it:D :D :D , the ramp guides lined up perfectly with the indents....even the local bobbies found it amusing!! Give them an inch and they'll take your an*l virginity!!!!

My plastic engine cover is also right through the rubber grommet at the top not under it, are you sure that is not how it goes, as for the hose they have damaged I would certainly insist on a new one the quicker you tell them the better.

I'd certainly go back, The gash could of gotten worse over a period of time, if you hadn't of noticed!

Steevie Wonder  nice one mate!

I thank you kind sir:thumbup:

Speaking from experience here, BUT if you do go back and kick off they'll probably put it right but screw summat else up instead....be it intentionally or not. For me, it's best left alone.....it's called damage limitation.

dare we ask who the dealer was ???

See this does my head in...when I got my new SEAT it went in to get a dashboard rattle fixed and they put marks all over the centre console trying to get the radio out - obviously their highly trained mechs couldnt cope with such a difficult job. Its the same with other marques I have owned - they just dont seem to give a stuff about the bloody things. Having said that I find polite at first is usually best way to approach it, if its obvious and its bothering you then tackle them for sure - after all its your hard earned :)

the hell it would! I had an 'issue' shall we say with my first mk4 Ibiza a few years back.. took it to the dealers who were pretty 'non-plussed' about it untill I told them in no uncertain times that I would park the car in their showroom personally.. funnily enough, they took it in.. gave me a courtesy mg (fully loaded, too) for the duration and couldnt apologise enough..

cant think why:cool:

Hmmmm, I just think you prob caught them on a good day, maybe the service manager got some the night before:)

Granted, some dealers are better than others BUT I do think that on the whole if you go in whinging and moaning about something they have previously worked on they tend to take exception to it, and bugger up something else.

Each to his own, but unless it was really serious I would just leave well alone, and find somewhere else to go next time.

IF you decide to confront them, be polite, because kicking off WILL p!$$ them off I can assure you.

yeah, i would go and have a moan..... if the intercooler hose has got a gash in it it might split and cause you all sorts of trouble

Just go in and be polite about it, and maybe drop a hint that your an active member on a forum where 14,000 Skoda owners discuss and chat about the service they recieve! :P

I would get it sorted if I were you mate.

Went in to the dealers this morning - they told me they had ordered the parts after a fone call i had had with them. Anyway, after a couple of hours wait they had replaced the hose, fixed a rattle in the door, sorted out a door panel issue, fitted for free a new O/F/R light cluster ( i purchased the part), and fully wahed and vacced the car. Was very pleased with the service in the end - and they toof full responsibility for the damage that had been caused.

The dealer in question was - Horners, in salford Manchester.

they must have seen this thread, result.

proly the fact it was less than two weeks old.. may have had something to do with it, AND the fact that it was 'stickered up' with a 'known forum' and i happened to mention i was a senior figure on the forum ;)

Be slightly cautious on using this forum to get stuff done, there are some things ongoing behind the scenes to try to improve relations with Skoda UK so as such I thought I'd just mention that ;)

Mostly if you're polite things get sorted out, and by the sound of this one, the problem was corrected to satisfaction and beyond to make up for it, kudos to the dealership

I've had a wide variety of experiences even within the same dealership sometimes between the sales & service department, or after service department changes. In a previous life I had a Renault 21 that was broken by the garage by doing a bad repair job on the heater matrix, causing a fatal engine failure a few weeks later. I was less than amused.

I tend to give a garage one chance to sort out problems or go elsewhere. Servicing wise, I find a dealer able to provide a service at reasonable cost. Now my warranty is gone (regardless of remap-related stuff), I will be inclined to look outside the dealer network a little more :)

I see this really simply - you are the customer - you paid your money -

WHAT IN H**L HAS HAPPENED TO CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THIS COUNTRY ?????????

Maybe slightly off topic but in a similar vain, my wife took her Bm into a local dealer for a service and when it came back - no cover on the coolant bottle. Called them up and told them the tale. They insinuated it wasn't there previously and said they would order one at our cost, beacuse it wasn't an item they kept in stock.

Next day outside the school, wife is telling this tale to a friend who is from and ENORMOUSLY rich family who buy 30+ BMs from the dealership every couple of years for their company. She happens to have the same BM as my wife and told her how her car had been in over exactly the same period and that the dealership were wonderful and had serivced her car perfectly and even given her a washer bottle cap for nothing as hers had snapped its captive cable the previous week.

Strange that eh. Wonder where the sourced that from so quickly?

Anyway moral of the story is, I take a quick digi-phone snap under the bonnet and of the bonnet, tailgate and flanks every time it goes in nowadays. Never had to use them in anger but sod's law says that the first I don't, will be the first time I wish I had!!
