mini fans discuss 5th gear: mini vs vRS.

Featured Replies

it amazes me how sanctimonious and self righteous skoda drivers can sound, for someone popping into the forum we as a whole could come over as complete to55ers that hate every other car and think that our car is the greatest in the world

Can anyone actually find the video that this all started from? I've seen the Top Gear one, but I begrudge paying 99p to see a video I only want to watch once!

If you go onto Youtube and enter "Fabia vs Mini" it is there to view free, around 3 mins or so.

possibly some would but it all about opinions. alot of the views on here are backed up with decent reasonsing tho. some arn't but on the whole they have some sort of reasoning.

unlike on the mini forum, they keep ranting on about style and handling and no other reasoning.

I don't think anyone on here would say the mini is a piece of ****, unlike what was said on the mini forum about skoda's in general.

Possibly because it isnt ?

they keep on about styling and handling and fabia drivers keep on about value and mpg, they say tomatoe, you say tomatoe :D

I say tomato... :P

As I said earlier, they are both two great cars, each with their own qualities and benefits. Down to personal preference and need- if you do a lot of miles and carry passengers -better with Fabia, if you value dynamics and style -better with Mini. I prefer the power delivery and economy of VRS, yet my wife likes the Cooper. Horses for courses.

Forget the merits of the cars for a second ... how many normal, decent Mini2 drivers have you met?

'nuff said.

:fap: :blahblah:

my mate for one, and my mums mate.

idiot.

i drive a vrs and the girlfriend a mini cooper. for every day driving the vrs wins hands down but for a quick thrash over the moors the mini is more fun but you have to work hard to get that fun out of it. for less effort the vrs is faster A to B but not as fun for that one off thrash.

I quite like the new mini (it is far too dear tho for what it is , typical German firm chucking everything on the options list), I'd like it more if it was being sold from the Dealers of the company that designed it ie Rover Group , not BMW. That wont happen now since Rover doesnt exsist anymore , personally I think its a national disgrace that Great Britain doesnt have a national car maker still operating , but thats another story.

Id still rather have a 'real' Mini , but if I was going to crash Id rather be in a Mini2!

I'm probably risking a bit of a backlash from Mini2 owners with what I'm about to say, but it's my opinion and I think everyone is entitled to one! Am I the only person that thinks the mini2 is a bit of a girls car? The Cooper S is a different story, but the rest of the range (including the standard Cooper) are very girly! I think that is something that the Mini2 has in common with the Beatle2. That is something you certainly can't say about the Furby. I can't comment on what they are like to drive, because I've never driven one, but I much prefer the look of the original mini.

I think it's something we'll see more of - cars appearing less agressive. It's to do with these pedestrian protection regs - manufacturers are responding by moving the bonnet line higher so there's more chance of someone hitting the bumper, and also moving the headlights further back. The Mini2 is a clear example of this. Pug 307, latest Civic - the list will only increase.

Just wait and see what happens to the front of the new Fab :thumbdwn:

Yes the Mini2 is gay but by Christ so is calling your Fabia a Furby!! WTF is that all about ? A Furby, listen to what you're saying and get a grip of yourself.

That's what SWMBO calls the car, and if i don't refer to it by the same name I'll be in trouble!! :). I didn't say anything about the mini2 being gay:confused: . Just that it's a girls car...

Come to think of it, how can a car be gay?? How do you tell the sex of a car in the first place??

Unless you're saying it's a happy car??

"Mini's have feelings too!" :)

thats my point exactly....and yes goochie I think the mini is a good car, it's all about personal preference.

I don't actually think that there is any such such thing as a really bad car nowadays, well friday afternoon cars don't count.

The Mini2 is a 2 seater driven by boy estate agents.

That's the problem. I'm sure they are very capable cars, but a lot of people driving them are such tools. Not all of them, just lots.

So like all cars really then?!

Chris

I used to drive my cousins old mini and that used to feel like you were flying along. Had many a laugh in that car including when we lost the exhaust along a particularly bumpy road in the middle of nowhere one night

Pink Nissan Micra?
