we'll have to do a bulk booking on the ferry (or whatever) and see if we can get a discount ;)

Well, I can see Steve will have his work cut out. ;) I can see the next trip being more of a "this is how you do it, now book it yourself and I'll see ya all there"" type of arrangement.

Well just to remind you that wonderful airfield, and look what was flying around as today :-)

It's not a race Caz, I don't think everyone went over 100 for any long periods of time, Steve wouldn't let us set the CC to 120  and we stop to wait for everyone if anything happens....like when I needed a wee and when we set off to catch everyone we noticed them all pulled over on the hard shoulder to wait for us :o:thumbup:

We set off a day early for this one, so thats always an option too

Would be interested if you let us know when more details become available, ta.

I'd be up for this too but as Devonutopia's said, this many in convoy can make the journey a lot more effort as the pace is always being set by someone else, you're watching out for others in the convoy and generally having fun! :)

What would the plan be - land in France and drive straight to CZ?

Don't worry too much about that, we are at very early stages and only finding out what sort of interest there is bearing in mind that generally in feeler threads up to 50% will eventually drop out.

If there are quite a few cars then we would probably split them down to 4/5 car convoys but let's not get too carried away here, it's a long way off yet to start worrying about that kind of detail.

But the excitement is already building :D

On the feeler and on hearing fuel costs, has anybody considered eurostaring it from UK to as close to Czech Rep as possible (or we want so we still get a good drive) and driving the last leg to save on fuel.

and folk call me tight

I'm banned from the Chunnel, so I have no choice. ;)

PS: It's a roadtrip anyway, and by FAR, the norfolkline ferry was the cheapest way to get across the channel. And the saving on the ferry probably paid for most of my 5 tanks of fuel needed for the whole trip.

just as a matter of interest, and to save me reading through the whole thread again.... how many miles did you all cover last time, in total?

From Devon, to Prague, and running around there, and the trip back - just shy of 2300 miles. :) Basically broken down into 1000 miles there, 400 miles+ of dossing and playing. Then 900 miles back (I went only to Bristol on my return) "Officially" Prague is 870 odd miles from Calais. Thats the best way to gauge how far it will be for anyone in the UK. :)

Whooops, I mean 670 miles. :o Wasn't all that far, and even keeping to a steady 70 average. (tougher than it sounds even with delimited autobahns) it should be doable in 10 hours. It only took us 12 because Des' sat nav took us off the main autoroute to Prague and through the middle of some town.

Err, it took us 12 hours because of a certain Fabia trying to run on fumes to save himself 10p, wonder who that was.

Don't know about you fabia owners but it took my and Dave under 9 hours to get back. :P :D

It is a long drive, but it was fun. will had time to eat some nice roadside meals, so it wasn't all pedal to the metal.

I still made it to the petrol station. That little detour was a bit more interesting than me pootling along the E40 at about 56mph with the MFA reading 0 miles to go for about 15 miles. We did get back quite quick indeed. So much so, we actually killed time at several service stations because we were so early for the ferries. Dave got on an earlier one and Will got on an earlier one, which turned out to be my ferry. Waited at Calais about 90 minutes. :D zooom zooom zooom.

I live 10-12 miles from you caz and i covered 2,385 miles on the trip.

That sounds pretty fast !! What was your avg speed on your way back and how about your gas consuption ?? ;)

Are we nearly there yet? :(

My fuel consumption was around 45mpg for the whole trip. :) This was averaging a steady 80-85 in general, with obvious bursts to "XXX" in the delimited areas. We made plenty of frequent stops though, which hampers the overall average, but when you're making good time, there's little point in hammering it for too long. It pays for safety to stop for 15 minutes every couple of hours, to refresh a bit.
