Yes insurance con

Last month I got a quote for insurance on Confused.com. The cheapest was Yes insurance.co.uk Since taking out the policy they have written to me telling me that the cost is now much higher than what was quoted. Reason, they didnt recognise that Skoda VRS had a standard factory immobiliser fitted , funny as they list it on their quote form. I asked about cancelling and was told that for the one month and cancelling charges will cost me another

so are you saying that you took out insurance with them and they are saying that you need to pay more as they got something wrong?

or that you got a quote and when went for the insurance it was more expensive?

how long ago was the quote and how long do they promise the quote will be valid for?

Churchill tried to do this to me once as they got my details wrong on the quote. I told them to listen to my call again, check I gave the correct information, then either give me the policy at the low price or cancel it and I would be looking elsewhere. They caved in, in the end.

as for immobilisers, has it not been a legal requirement since the late 90s for all cars to has a factory fitted immobiliser? Not sure exactly what the/their problem is. If you cancel I believe they can reasonably charge you pro-rata for the insurance cover you've had until now but not extra charges seeing that they've moved the goal posts

My girlfriend insurance company took 3 direct debits from here account in one month, they should have only taken one payment of £45, this causing her to go overdrawn as there was only enough money for 2 off them to go out. She didnt have an overdraft to cover this and has been charged by her bank £40 x 2 for 2 unpaid direct debits and unautorised lending fee of £50.

She is still trying to get 1 off the payments back from her insurance for £45 and also the Charges she incured.

We have cancelled the direct debit from the insurance company and they have written several times now, asking to set it backup. We have wrote to them with evidence of bank charges incured telling them they owe us:

(£45 x 1) + (£40 x 2) + £50 = £175 in total. We have also said in the letter that the outstanding balance on the policy is £105 so they owe us money.

We are waiting a reply..........................

MLuton, that's a different issue, and is covered by the DD guarantee. It would depend on your gf's account, but AIUI the bank should refund her the 2 unauthorised payments, and the charges (which are illegally high under "fair charge" rules anyway), and seek redress from the insewerer.

I know its a different issue but i tthought id bring it up as it was about insurance.

Her bank will not return the DD under the DD garantee, this is another problem we are having.

Sorry to crash the thread.

Raise a formal written complaint (keep a signed copy) to the bank if you haven't. If that doesn't work, take it to the Banking Ombudsman.

My dad was a bank manager, so I know the procedure.

Thats our next Step, we are waiting for a reply to our last letter to the bank before we go any further.

Thanks anyways.

Another thing you need to look out for when paying by DD, is that if it's a small company (is performance direct small!?) they might not be doing the 'credit themselfs.

I've just had this with my old Saab. As I was paying by DD I had inesance taken out a loan for the policy with 3rd party. So now that i've canceled my policy with them, I still have to pay £48 a month (untill May!) for nothing :(

Confused.com who I used to get the quote agree that what was quoted is what you should get unless there has been a change, which there has not. They are investigating why Yes car Insurance have tried this ploy. I did check and apparently they are not related to what used to be Yes Car though tactics seem about the same.:rubchin:

is Yes insurance run by the same company that runs Yes car credit who charge mega high rates of interest for car loans etc

i was asking this too... i applied for a laon for 6000 last summer... they confirmed that i was able to be lent 6k...however in the small print it didnt say that they were actually a brokers. and the fact that they charged me 49.50!! just to process my form i didnt know this until i went online to check up on the reviews of this company. that they take the money and never get hold of you. so i rang them up and finally after waiting 29minuts on the phone i got through to someone. oh sorry sir you are not elegeble for having this loan. but in the letter they wrote to me a few weeks back they said that i was?! i was so angry. so i have to wait til march! to get my 49.50 back i presume they want me to forget about it.

yes credit, yes loans, yes F'in yes!! stay away from these people. i havent herd any good things at all from them

Thats the problem John, whilst they list it on their web site they deny it exists on the Fabia VRS but their Customer Services do not have access to anything like their web site and therefore do the Cant help you we aint got access. Then try well you must have changed the policy. By this time you realise you are being ripped off and if you tell them you dont want their policy its" if thats the case then there is a cancellation fee". Cancel what you didnt agree to and dont want they are going to try and fleece you.

What they dont realise is I aint going away and will keep pursuing them till I get satisfaction and do the best to ensure they dont scam others
