brother has scraped his loads - driving round the local multistorey was bad until he started driving off the ramps at a diagonal. but to be fair, his car is quite low...

All the time for me to. It also looks like it has had previous repairs.

Hope to change it in the new year, so not to ar$ed.

Hi Rob,

Yep that's pretty much how mine looks.

Like'n the honeycomb grill BTW (and the cat :))

Hehe. Bloody cats get everywhere!

Grilles are milotec by the way :)

Done a few kerbs, but on way home other morning and just glanced down to adjust my heating and managed to run over a pallet in middle of road.

Bumper managed to deflect most of it but went over it with front and back wheel, just had new toyo proxies fitted less than a week ago, cant deside whether to repace them or not. They seem o.k but worried about internal damage.

Too many to count, luckerly it's black so doesn't look that bad.

Problem i've got is i must remember to exit the shell garage in Sutton a differant way cause it scrapes every time :( or find another V power garage thats on my way to work.

anyone know what the best way to raise the ride height?.............:P

loooooads times..... Such a shame because I really like the look of the Seat Cupra R Splitter and want one :(

You could change the springs but the road holding will suffer....

We need one of those systems like the Lambourghinis (Gallardo?) - push a button to temporarily raise the nose of teh car

almost constantly but then again my car is only about 4mm off the ground :o

absolutely twa**ed a speed bump after having to swerve rund a stupid idiot the other day and thought i had broken my sump again :o

Belive it or not mines worse than that I darent show you the pics I nearly had the thing ripped off in a car park in the lake district. Its my only bugbear with the car.

I caught mine on friday for the first time  - stopped at the maccie D's in petersfield, was asked to park up (thought it was supposed to be "fast food"? ) and as the parking was sloping down towards the kerb I heard a lovely scraping noise.

Got out to look and thought "Oh ****!", took two attempts to get back off it with the car juddering horribly and me thinking it was going to fall off.

I think I need to add some front bumper sensors to my parking aid!!!

How much lower / further forward is the lip of the vRS bumper than the normal Elegance bumper? Would like to change mine but not if its going to get scraped too much. My car is not as low as a vRS but not as high as a normal 4x4 either so hopefully might be OK?

Too many times, the front of my car has a two tone paint job almost, red and then a little lower black...........Dublin City Council and fingal council make speed ramps that would stop a tank, dead. plus they also never fill in pot holes, makein most trips a minor lesson in tarmac rallying at lower speeds, think the rest of the irish boys will back me on this one........and lets not talk about country roads.

I just scuffed the underside of my bumper on the o/s on a kerb, I've noticed that on the elegance the front bumper hangs a lot lower that than rest of the car. The scuff is just about noticable if you look in the right place, first scuff in 6 months wondering whether to leave it alone or get someone like chipsaway to mend, aswell as a few scratches/stonechips too. May try myself with some skoda touch up sticks if I can get my hands on some...

My mate's vRS looks like it has a lower bumper than my Elegance, but I think that's just cos his car has shorter springs, not cos the moulding is different.

I fitted a Seat Cupra R front splitter to my VRS recently. Starting to think this was a bad move, as today scrapped it twice. Once on the way out of a driveway where a slight decline then goes to a slight incline to the main road. Then again driving up a exhaust centres ramp.

It looks great but, having to drive around places watching the road surface is a pain.

Rgds

Now got a MKII, so not such an issue :)

I scrape mine nearly every day :( They have big gulleys at the roadsides here for stormwater!

I went up a dodgy driveway the other day and it was scraping on pine cones which had fallen!!!

I can't really get out of one end of my road because it'll scrape, apart from there once, maybe couple times elsewhere too. Ooh! Once, on the evil A38 near Lichfield where they've been doing roadworks, there was a SPIKE of tarmac right in the middle, few inches high, just caught the underside, I SCREAMED in agony!

Was it so spiky it went up yer bum?

Was it so spiky it went up yer bum?

Thats an odd question Rob ...............Should I start worrying :D

Yes i get some scrapes but the other day i hit a rabbit head on:eek:

Thought nothing more about it until i got home and found my car in pieces, the middle vent pushed in and a side vent missing. Luckily i found the side vent on the road side and both vents just popped back in.

Have since noticed that my underside engine cover has been ripped off:mad:

Lesson learnt- slow down when passing rabbits.
