Thought I

I regularly scrape mine - the the point that I just dont care any more :(

I think Saxo's and alike must have smaller overhangs.

Like you Goochie.. I'm getting to the point where it's just another scrape.

The worst occasions are when you know you're going to have to scrape it again on the way out/home from a carpark.

The Fabia Bumper is Quite low also, in Two an a Half years, Never been scrapped, Speed bumps.......10 mph. [ sorry to butt in ]

Never, nor has the girlfriend...yet!

Never the front bumper. The wheels on the other hand..... :o

Wheels are fine but im a 10mph kind of guy if i know im going/likely to scrape the front.

Caught it a couple of time now but its the underside so im not too fussed really

the day i bought mine i was aware that its low after reading up about it on here

pulled out the dealers which has a crap driveway ans it scraped like fook

since then i've had a few here and there none of which can be seen unless you crouch down to look i am getting to the point where it's just another scrape now though

although when my old man drives the car sometimes he is warned about wheels bumper screwing it when cold etc

as foe my wife do you really think i would let someone who hears it when she hits a bollard but keeps on driving cos she thought it would be ok drive my car

(hercar looks like someone has done a ram raid in it)

Mines awful now when you feel under the bumper edge it is scraped all over, although most of this is down to the previous owner.

It also has two pieces of paint missing on the vary edge, both down to times when SWMBO was driving!! Not too bad and you have to really know they are there to see them, still annoying though.

Anybody know an easy way to touch these up?

Wheels on my old vRS where like new, however the underside of the front bumper was wrecked.

Don't have a vRS, but I think I've caught the front valance plate a couple of times on one particular cattle grid on single carriageway trunk road.

Just the once for me. I try to avoid parking too close up to kerbs/driving on rough ground etc because I don't really want to smash/bend the bumper but scrapes on the underside of it don't really bother me, you only see them when you're under it :P

If its the same as the Ordinary Octy bumper they appear to sag in the middle. Ive scraped mine loads of times after the car was lowered.

There are 2 tricks I know of

Put an extra self tapper in the middle & screw the trailing edge up to the members above

or as on mine we got a very light angle, about 10mm x 10mm x 1.5 thick & pop rivited that along the inside edge of the trailing edge of the bumper & that stopped the middle sagging.

It's MUCH worse now. Bloody New Zealand gutters!

Hi Rob

Your up Late/early .............(delete as required)

All my Vrs did was scrape the road /sleeping policemen/ peoples drives etc.etc

i got one like rob's top picture but you can't really see it after looking today mine aint too bad only 2 big ones

I've scraped mine three times since I've had it. They've all happened in multi-story car parks where its difficult to avoid it. I grit my teeth and tense up every time I have to go down a ramp. Its a horrible feeling knowing you're going to scrape and there's nothing you can do about it.

Going OT a bit, scraping alloys make a horrible noise! :o Kerbed my near side wheels a while ago trying to let an ambulance squeeze past. Ouch. Luckily getting them refurbished soon. :)

the grinning technique it's like swerving your body to one side when its a bit tight to pass another car

they both seem to work though !!!!!!

Unfortunatly there is a horrible gutter that runs across the end of my drive, so unless i hit it right most mornings, but its black already so not obious til u feel it. gunna get some cold tar or someting try and stop it.

I've lost count of the number of times I have scraped the underside of the front bumper :o

Mine was damaged reversing off the car transporter before i picked the car up from the dealers, four big grooves  , it was brand new and i was lucky to spot it before leaving the forecourt. Dealer fitted me a new bumper, then just over six months later i scapes it leaving a local car park  so only the once for me

Hi Rob,

Yep that's pretty much how mine looks.

Like'n the honeycomb grill BTW (and the cat :))

The non VRS bumper has a ridge along the bottom, similar to the VRS. However, it seems to be moulded "in tension" so that when it breaks it kinks up in the middle - resulting in a very stupid looking bumper.

I've left mine alone though as I reckon stiffening it would just mean something else (bumper mounting screws in the arch) will give way when I scrape it next time.

brother has scraped his loads - driving round the local multistorey was bad until he started driving off the ramps at a diagonal. but to be fair, his car is quite low...
