The thing is, she is right. The Focus has warranty, tax and MOT til October, not due a service for 8k, good tyres etc - by chopping it in now I'm throwing money away...

Well put:rofl: .....my other half said no to an Ibiza Cupra TDI so now 'we' are looking @ VRS Fabias, and A3 2.0TDI's:rolleyes: ...on this occasion I think she made a good call;)

So many sexist comments spring to mind, but in these PC days i'd just like to remind you all that "if you didn't want to **** them, you wouldn't need to talk to them"

Tom get the car.

Did you check to see if the indicator stalk was ticked as an option?

:sofahide:

Tom,

This is a snippet of your review of the Focus written late October.

'Service intervals of only 12,500 miles should make it a bit lighter on the pocket, as should the 8yrs/100k cambelt interval.

I really do love this car. I hope the ticking noise from the flywheel and the wheel bearing noise will be fixed under warranty... The main things I miss about the vRS are the ability to feel like a complete hooligan with lots of torque, wheelspin etc... and the seats. Thats it. So all in all, I'm a lot happier. I think the Focus is a good all round car, and I think I will keep this for a long time. '

At the end of the day you are your own boss but will you really be happier (financially) with the BMW? Personally I'd hang onto the Focus, you maybe bored with the car but at the end of the day would you rather have a reliable car plus 2/3k in your back pocket or spend 2/3k for a car that could have been thrashed and could end up being unreliable.

Think about what you really want, I feel the BMW will be another stop gap car, I mean I noticed another thread concerning the Yellow Octavia VRs, perhaps you should save your money wait and buy one of these secondhand!

Des

Can I take a guess and say your lass didn't so much "put her foot down" as pointed out the truth of the situation to you and you have thought better of it.

Yes Des, on balance, I think I would be silly to not keep the Focus. When I go for a spirited drive it still makes me grin! :)

Aboslutely not, definitely not the case at all, 100% complete and utter tosh. What a rediculous suggestion.:finger: :thumbdwn:

Well, maybe just a little bit ;)

<---- Here is where the girlfriends thumb is..........

.......This is how far under it you are. :P

seriously though, if you are going to chop in the Focus after 4 months or so, why did you bother buying it in the first place.

Nobody changes their mind about cars as often as Tom.

I'm sure there have been at least half a dozen "what I'll be buying next" type threads

What happened to the idea of a yallow VRS MKII with colour coder grill surround ;)

Still, at least it means you don't have to worry about finding a garage to service it

Chris

It takes a brave man to over ride the decision of his woman. It's all well and good giving it the 'big un' on here but in truth they have what we want and unless you comply you don't get.

It reminds me of a gag told by Mike Read which goes along the lines of -

Picture the scene, wedding night in the hotel, 4 poster bed and champagne.

The groom takes his trousers off and hands them to his bride. Put the trousers on he says, what for she says, just put the fecking trousers on replies the groom.

The bride duly puts the trousers on and the groom promptly tells her that it would be the first, and the last, time she would ever wear the trousers in their house.

She takes the trousers of then takes her pants off and hands them to the groom. Put these on she says, I'll never get in those says the groom, too right says the bride and unless you change your attiutude c0cker you won't be!!

Local dealer has one of them used ;)

How about something more fun like a 200SX, Tom?

Use the remaining cash to repay some of the loan from work and put some towards the running costs.

Could get a beauty for £6k - just get one with uprated turbo oil feed pipes that hasnt been modified in any other way and it'll do 150k miles with ease

  • 1 year later...

Is it still running well Tom? :D
