AS A TRIAL

A small google adsense advert has been added...it's not the begining of the end.

Who knows it might turn some fun links up.

Is it now my turn to say that if people want to have these removed they should considering donating to keep Briskoda ad-free by using paypal/nochex/fastpay/cheque/bank transfer/brown envelope?

I couldn't find it at first!

OK with me as long as you don't do a Scoobynet and insert them underneath the third post of each thread!

Steve

Agree with Steve, Also several companies have been helpful to "Briskodians", On Scabbynet any company has to pay to advertise & posting products & services is classed by "THE GODS" as advertising & they are expected to pay for the privelage.

I would assume we would not adopt that attitude

Stuart

if it helps pay for a new server, underground lair(with monorail) and world domination then banners are fine with me...

Colin do we earn Briskoda money by clicking, or the other way round?

@Nick Click through earns a very small amount, hence it's a trial ;)

@Steve & Stuart, I have no plans to follow Scoobynets "example". The crucial difference is I run this as a personal interest and not to put bread on the table.

OK - so ... all members, click once on the advert per thread read and help Briskoda - all you have to do is press the Back button afterwards.

Thats the only problem with google ads, they open in the same window. Why they never got them to open in another window I dont know.

So press the Shift key then Manny .... :D

Resurrecting an old thread - but I see Google ads have returned again.

Is it another trial, or are they are permanent feature?

I'm not a fan of them, although I don't find them too annoying, but I just wonder if they could be made to disappear for Freedom members - another possible benefit of membership?

Google ads !!! What google ads ?

Oh that little inconspicious box in the top right corner of the screen ?

Never noticed it, so it can stay :D:)

My only concern is that they could upset our partners by advertising their competitors for free.

what are the big ads that have started appearing on the bottom of threads? Or is it just me thats only just noticed them :D

They seem to be googleads too.

In another thread it was said that it has been switched off temporarily until we have completely moved. It will come back.

As above.

Would rather pay double subs to stop the adverts

I've just had an ad for vampfangs.com

It really is amazing what we talk about on this site!

Do we really need adverts for dating services? What controls the subject matter of the ads?

AFAIK it is the content of the site itself. i.e. Google trawls the site and then presents ads based on the content. There's currently an ongoing thread about dating, and it's been discussed many times before. We've also discussed fangs once or twice

I'm just waiting for basement stair carpet cleaner to be advertised ;)
