The Avant is a must when looking at an A4, it looks awsome, handels just as well as a saloon would. If it is boot space putting you off an A3, when my dad had his wheel chair that was my car of choice at the time (as an old mini was too low for him to get in and out of, i would have made the chair fit and i didn have insurance for the passat), providing you dont go for the quattro, i would say the boot should be ample, it was a squeze with the quattro but possible.

with notable excption to the fabia estate.... that just went wrong!

i'd go for the avant has an air of simplicity in the shape, like 12volt says estates look better:)
