Superb folding back seat.

Featured Replies

I'm hoping that i have not found the buttons that lets the rear seat fold down flat. Can someone tell me where they are or, alternatively, break the bad news that the rear seats dont fold flat gently please.

If they dont fold down can someone please tell me how you take them out.

Depends on the age of ur superb, the older ones didnt fold flat.

Mines a 52 Plate.

Anyone have any news on removing them completely?

If you have got folding seats you will have these

If you have got folding seats you will have these

Wish I had that!!!

I used mine for the first time on friday, carried two single mattresses one on top of the other in the Super B, fitted first time perfectly, and boot closed with no worries whatsoever!

Truly love this car!

You lucky so and so's as Mr B said...wish I had folding seats...biggest and only downfall with mine :(

Ok, so i dont have the folding rear seats.

But does anyone know how to take out the rear seats so i can fit more stuff in the car when travelling to France etc?

I would guess the backs are bolted in.......but not sure about the squabs .....would like to know as mine don't move so the seat back folds down on top of them........so not completely flat

My Superb has a folding back seat - it's better than nothing but a pretty feeble effort as the lower part of the seat doesn't hinge upwards. The result is a badly shaped load space and two floppy seat backs.

I'm going to have to take the lower seat cushion right out and I suspect it's fitted like the one in my old Passat. The front of the cushion locates on kinked "pegs" and just needs a really hard pull to get it out. The kinks ensure that it's locked in. If anyone wants to try this before I get around to it, I'd be interested to hear the result.

I would be happyif i could just take out the backrest but if i could take out the squab as well it would be great!

Are thetre any Skoda Techs out there??

Not sure which trim level you have but some specs have heated rear seats so be particularly thoughtful of giving the squab a good pull or you may end up with a broken element. I have a 54 plate and it has folding seats but as has already been said, they are nothing but a fairly poor last minute resolution to complaints about not having them originally, which was a dumb mistake in anyones book for a big car that is not available in hatch or estate form. After 18 months with this car I am still blowing hot and cold as to whether I like it or not, there is just so much about it that still blows the competition out of the water though.

Sam, I also have a love/hate relationship with the Superb. I respect it greatly as a workhorse - which is what I bought it for - but some of the design faults infuriate me. I suppose that having had a Passat, I'm amazed that all the faults have been replicated in the Superb. Obviously I spotted this when I bought it, but I'm still surprised it ended up like this.

I paid for a Skoda and got an old VW complete with all the built in **** ups. If only Skoda had been allowed a real input on its design, it could have been a really good workhorse, like the old Swedish Volvo estates were.

The performance and economy of the PD diesels are quite outstanding, it has loads of room in it and tows my trailer really well. Where else do you get a car like this with a galvanised body for such a low cost (secondhand, anyway)? My sister's fairly recent Mercedes is a rusting unreliable heap in comparison.

I must try to like it a bit more - but it's hard; the thing has no soul.

Buy a V6 model...plenty of soul there....I love this car as much as I did my Octy vRS..Sorry BTT

The engine in the one I've got is its best feature. It's the rest of the car I'm less happy about.

Sorry to hear that mate...having a few troubles with mine at the moment....stupid things:(

Yeah, mine has got the heated rear seats so i'll need to be able to remove them properly. Its getting close to me having to either take my car to France with the seats out or my missus' golf with the seats folded flat. Obviously i would rather go in my Superb, but i need to know how to take out the seats properly without breaking anything.

Anyone?

i agree with the superb being a class motor......had an octavia estate l+k before and on trips to france kids were ever so cramped.....just so nice seeing them miles away in the rear view mirror and knowing i'm not gonna get female knee caps in my back now ^_^ oh by the way...has anyone got idea's on what engine codes on front cover mean......mine is showing BSS.Just wondered if the VWgroup upgraded the 2.0tdi 140 bhp engine since its replacement for the one 130bhp.

I think that one of these will be my next car, i want the L+K to get the leather and cruise and i need an estate because of the space and the lack of rear seat folding.

Does anyone know what year the rear folding seat came out in the Superb? If it came out with the 2.0 TDI model i will definitely go for the Octavia Esate L+K. If it came out with the 1.9TDI still fitted, i may be persuaded to stick with my Superb.

I researched the market for used Superbs very carefully before buying one. My spec. was base model, 130PS engine, folding seats, lowest price + whatever else I could negotiate on the deal. The 140PS Cat IV engine was definitely out - it's a real liability, less efficient, more tax and more pollution.

There is a narrow window in which cars to this spec were made - mine is Oct '04. I think the "folding" seats came in in mid '04. I negotiated a cruise control + longlife oil to get it to the next service after the warranty runs out (I do my own servicing). 2 new tyres completed the deal. There was plenty of choice out there if you are prepared to travel and used Superbs don't shift off the forecourts.

The engine code of the 130PS unit is AWX (paper label on cambelt cover) and the engine power output in kW is on the paper build standard label in the spare wheel well.

(1 PS = 735W, 1 BHP = 746W; do the arithmetic).

Cheers Roto, it looks like i'll be buying a post mid '04, 130 PS elegance with the folding rear seats next then.

I still wouldnt mind finding out how you take the rear seats out though.

Mine is a 05 plate comfort spec, and it has the folding rear seats.

Off the top of my head I think it was 2004....probably wrong
