For all you Mountain bikers out there

Well, after a definate NO from SWMBO on whether I could get a new Spesh Enduro Comp (I guess I know who wears the trousers around here!!), I decided to upgrade a few bits on my 2002 spec Spesh Rockhopper.

Seat post - FSA SLK carbon fibre

Saddle - Spesh Alias 130

Pedals - Powerplay single sided platforms with SPD on other side

Tyres - Kenda Blue Groove 2.1 on front & Kenda Nevegal 1.95 on rear

Bars - Easton Monkey Lite XC carbon composite

and I'm saving the best 'til last..............

Forks - Pace RC39XC............. absolute dream forks. So much better than my old Manitou Six Comp's. They are very light & have 100mm of travel with a remote lock out for climbing, etc.

Just had to get out today since the weather was spring like.........

Nice one, are they air or coil sprung?

I've got the old 02 model enduro and they're ace, sometimes feel like it's a bit wasted in the local area but for places like Wales and the peaks it's spot on.

I also have a kona explosif single speed for round here when I get bored of the spesh.

And an on-one il pompino fixed gear for commuting

and a kona sutra for touring duty

I think I've might have too many bikes!

Do you ever go on the forum here? Singletrack - Forum

It's a bit like a biking version of here, full of a decent mix of useful information and crap with the odd wind-up merchant/nobhead thrown in for good measure!

I'm going out on my bike on Sunday for a "get back into cycling" ride with one of my mates who's in a similar predicament (fat).

I've got a 1998 KHS Nomad, with 2005 Marzochi Bombers and a Specialised V-Cut Seat (so my willy doesn't dissapear after 5 minutes on the bike LOL).

I've only been out on it a handfull of times in the past 4 years... So we're going to take it easy!

Thanks for the link to the cycling forum... Looks good!

They're air sprung. Just set the air pressure depending on your weight & then you can adjust the rebound depending on your riding style.

How do you find the saddle, the one i have hurts the bones in my bum to feck

It's OK after a while. I had my bum measured before I bought the seat! :D

Apparently , you need a saddle that supports the bones. Saddle adjustment is important as well.

Tav...

We're doing the "West-Bar to Meadowhall and back" circuit to start with, just to give our bikes a quick shake down and try to get our bodies back into the swing of things.

It's 8 miles and fairly flat, so it shouldn't be too taxing!

Our thoughts were that if the weather isn't too bad and we're not dying by the time we get to Meadowhall, we might extend the ride a little bit... But not much haha.

We're meeting around West Bar this Sunday if you're interested in joining us?

It won't be long until I can do some riding in the evening after work, such an uplifting time of year this :) Nice to see there are other riders on this forum

Ooh, seems like Specialized are popular on here :) Here's my Stumpy FSR Pro 120.

Also got a Giant TCR2 road bike, but no picture to hand.

Dave.

I too have a Stumpy FSR Pro, in Black!

I love bike technology, but when you're in that 'zone' on one of those days when you seem to be able to sail up hills and float down over them again, no matter what's under your tyres, that's when you don't care what bike you're riding :)

I'd quite fancy a nice singlespeed for those fast jaunts on local 1 - 2 hour rides, I notice there was an on-one bike further up in this thread

The Rockopper is my first bike with suspension forks. Full suspension was still very expensive in those days.

I test rode a Marin Mount Vision Pro a couple months ago & loved it. Only problem was it about £3K!!

The new Enduro is in my price range & I like to do a bit of Down Hilling.

I love the Stumpy too, but liked the new Enduro better. Spesh UK have had problems getting them due to factory capacity (they're using their own forks & rear shocker).

So, upgrade time for the Rockhopper it was! Plus SWMBO put her foot......again!

I aim to get out more often & hammer the tracks which are literally 5 mins away from me.

Problem is I snapped 3 spokes yesterday & the wheel won't be ready 'till Monday!

I miss all this and need to get back into it badly :(

I live in Chapletown and used to watch and buy cheap bits from Steve Peat but learning to drive stopped me from doing it.

Here's a good laugh for some of you though. i stopped with the mountain biking around this time.

GT had just gone bust

Steve Peat had just signed for Orange and i was still in love with my GT RTS3 which i still have in the garage :D

and i am expecting delivery of this next week to build up singlespeed :D :

Dialled Bikes : Technical Specification : Love/Hate Singlespeedable frame

that should see how fit i am!

That is a work of art, pure simple beauty :) I'm really coming around to the idea of a single speed. Mind if I ask what the fully built cost of one of those is?

Dave.

Triple7, the first photo looks familiar. Looks like the path behind Highcliffe onto the moors. The Merlin looks nice. Used to dream of owning a Merlin Titanium many moons ago.

Never heard of Dialled Bikes before. What's with all the single speed bikes? It does look rather nice though.

My wheel is ready sooner than I thought, so I think I'm to hit the trails this afternoon.
