Back in the fold - my 3rd Octy VRS......

Featured Replies

...but my 1st Octy II VRS. :)

Good to be back on the site. Loads of new faces, some vaguely familiar and then the usual suspects! Have decided to sell my X3 (I'll put it up in the For Sale section, you never know ;)) and am coming back to my spiritual home, an Octy VRS....for now, at least. As my commuting car is a Fabia, our household will be all Skoda! (when the BMW is sold, that is)

I'm not buying new but have leapt at the chance of getting a 05/55 Silver one with 18 inch alloys, satnav, maxidot and xenons - no jumbo box etc. surprisingly, but not too bothered about that.

Now the learning curve begins.........

Welcome back.

Cheers, Stu. :)

Having spent an inordinate amount of time here in the last few days, one thing I've discovered is that you're the resident Octy Demi-God. I'm sure I'll be picking your brains from time to time (after I've used the 'Search' function, of course. ;))

Cheers, Stu. :)

you're the resident Octy Demi-God.

Hardly mate, most of what I know can be found using the search, but do feel free to ask :P

Hello Huck:D

Welcome back to the clan. I'm sure I'll return at some point too!

Steve

Welcome back Huck.

Would love to hear a proper comparison on this new 2.0T fsi to the old 1.8T from someone who has driven both now.

Hope you get a good price for the X3.If I remember,it was a rather special one

We always knew this would happen eventually... :D

Welcome back Huck!

Hiya Huck - hope alls well  I've still got my old Octy 1 RS ... you must have had about 8 cars since I got mine :P :D

Morning Dr Huck (or is it Mr Huck now?) :wavey:

So you're getting an Octy 2 RS?

What will you be getting in May?

what was wrong with the X3 then?

If past form is anything to go by, it either needed a wash or a service ;)

Welcome back Huck! :D

Chris

LOL! Thanks all, you've given me a warm, fuzzy feeling of belonging. Must say that when I bought the fabia, I did make a brief attempt to return but, as it's my drive it and forget about it car, I never felt the urge to jump straight back in. Now I'm getting the Octy, I'm eagerly devouring info. here. For me, Brisky and the Octy VRS are inextricably linked, for obvious reasons.

Re. the BMW. It's actually the longest I've owned any car since 1998, smashing the old record of 11 months set by my second RS by a whole 4 months. I think I've done quite well. ;)

It's a bloody good car with ridiculous torque but there are good reasons for selling it. As Jon alluded to earlier, I'm very near to finishing my training and will be a consultant in a few months. There's a huge amount of uncertainty as to where in the country I'll take a post and may have to move down south and buy a place there. I don't want to be in the situation in a few months of trying to buy a more expensive house and being saddled with silly car repayments, so I've been proactive and sensible for once and have decided to sell. Plus, it needed a wash.

It's likely to be a short term thing of a couple of years but we'll see....

For the record, my cars since Briskoda's inception have been:

Rally Red Octavia RS

BMW 330d

Black Octy RS

Merc C32 AMG Estate

BMW X3 2.0d

x3 3.0d MSport

plus about 5 'second' cars, but they don't count. ;)

Seriously though, it's a very expensive and very stupid habit/addiction. :thumbdwn:

very stupid habit/addiction.

Have you thought of getting professional psychological help for it?

Physician, heal thyself :D

Physician, heal thyself :D

LMAO! I think that, for the first time, the healing will be foisted upon me, a cold turkey of sorts. I've bought all these cars because I could, now I'm pretty sure that for the next couple of years, I'll be in a situation where I can't.

To quote Clarence Bodicker from Robocop, 'Pretty simple math, eh Bob?"

:D

Wellcome back mate:thumbup:

Steve

Good to see some of the old school returning, welcome back :)
