Key Programming

Featured Replies

:) Hi everybody! Well after much umming and arghing, I decided that I must buy a new key for the car, as it only came with one and I'm paranoid about losing it, or it braking! Now I have the key, does any one know how I can get the thing chipped, or more to the point any idea as to where I can get it done. Do I need any codes, I am as usual at a bit of a loss with this one. Any help as usual would be gratefully received.

Cheers people:)

I dealer will be able to get the code for you if you don't have it. It can then be coded with VAG COM or dealer equipment.

Had a new key cut and the chip programmed at Timpsons, the shoe repair and key cutting shop. Cost £30. The location of the shops will be on their internet site. Hope this helps.

Do they need the code at Timpsons, or can they do it from your current key.... like copy the info on the chip to the new one or something?

Been thinking about getting one done for mine too as i only have the one key also.

Thanks

My year 2000 Felicia has the rectangular shaped key body.

The Main Dealer wanted GBP

The key I had cut at Timpsons, the code was copied from my old key. The guy that cut it said the new key was a blank for a Ford. But works fine anyway. Only took 5 mins.
