We seem to be selling a huge amount of them. Ill need to take a look at one, but I can guarentee that they will all need a firmware update at some point.

The firmware seems to be aa common problem with modern Nokias. I've heard of quite a few N73s hoying a seven, although the upgrade seemed to resolve any issues. I fully expect the N95 to have a few bugs, but as long as they get fixed I'll be happy.

The N95 is a uber-phone... has everything built in!!! - its getting really good reviews, except for the battery life.

Im looking at one myself....

what do you think of T-mobile?? (im on o2 at the moment) o2 dont provide any decent data-addons for their tarriffs, ie 5mb costs

I personally find the T-mobile network to be utter garbage, big dead spots on quite a few motorways and A roads compared to my 02 and SWMBO's Vodafone.

SWMBO sent her phone back to T-mobile after experiencing utterly shambolic customer service.

The N95 looks like a snazzed up version of my N80. I've been pretty happy with it apart from the poor 3MP camera and buggy OS which was cured by the now ubiquitous N-series firmware update.

The N95 looks like the next phone for me.

Any one used the online Nokia firmware upgrade?

Does it work ok?

or has it killed your phone?

I've been holding off trying it as I didn't want to go through the hassle of sending my phone off to get re-flashed by Nokia.

Works a treat :)

My N73 started to show stupid hang errors, which looked like memory corruption to me. Sure enough one software update and a restore and it's all fixed :)

Cool I might have to try that out on my N80 later on then... :)

P.S. Sorry for the thread hijack :D

If the N95 is as good as the N80 then your on to a winner :)

My sisters just upgraded to one, thanks to much nudging from me

Got one yesterday on O2 contract, 600 mins + 500 texts for

Thats not a bad deal. I think o2 had a package like that but without the cash back but I only wanted the handset so went for the cheapest option:D

If the phone is built like the N80 it should be quite robust, I've dropped/thrown mine loads of times and it's never broken once, the slide mechanism still works perfectly.

I updated my N80 a few months ago. It's easy to do and worked first time on my handset so I think Nokia have cracked it.

Nice little write up Chris, it's definitely my next phone.

The N95 feels really light in comparison, not sure if it's a good thing, but that said it does seem well made. Not had one apart yet but should do next week

As for the online updates

We must see over 100 people a week into stores saying "I tried the update thing and it hasn't worked since" begging us to fix it. The online updater will also not flash all the firmware. If you think that the service software package for the N80 is over 2gb then I think the flash will not really solve all your problems.

Check the Nokia website for Express repair Centres who can flash them in 2 hrs.

PM me you you want and I can tell you where the best one for you will be.

Seemed to work well for me, It cured all the bugs in my N80 and there were quite a few, the biggest problem was the locking up of the OS when sending a text message. I know 2 other people who have had similar success with their N80 updates.

Thanks Decron I've just checked the Nokia site and it seems there is a new company doing this locally now

Last time I went to the designated service centre they had let their Nokia engineer go and had to send all the phones away to be done.

The other reason for my reluctance to try the software update is because my friend tried it on his 6680 shortly after Nokia launched the service and it killed his phone  It was out of warranty and he had to pay to have it re-flashed by Nokia :thumbdwn:

i heard that it takes yonks to get a gps location, my ipaq has a program called quickgps which downloads a list of where the sat's are which speeds locating up, the n95 doesn't for some reason.

I'm waiting it to be avilable on three, there network seems to be alot quicker. I'm on tmobile with a 3g phone (n70) but the data speed is horid, drops back to gprs all the time. Plus 3 have the uk license to slingbox mobile!

Sister has hers for sale (ok so I should put this into the For Sale section but how can I let a plug like this go   ) PM me with offers...

Looks very sexy in its box like, dying to say Ill have it off her but I have alloys to think about :D

The N95 was delivered this morning and it's not very good TBH.:thumbdwn:

It's a fantastic concept for a smartphone and if it worked it would be head and shoulders above the rest for useability and functionality. Inbuilt GPS and maps:thumbup: DVD quality video camera  TV OUT with cables for showing pics and vids on your TV  5MP camera with excellent options  WLAN for connecting to your home network or WiFi zone. Large bright screen with brilliant two way sliding for media player. Proper loud crisp stereo sound.

It has a lot more functions and other stuff like Email and loads of different document viewers as well.

The bad side is that it just doesn't work. the WiFi drops out 7 out of 10 times. Theres no way of knowing that you've lost connection unless you exit the browser. The phone switches itself off all the time. It hangs all the time and has to be switched off and rebooted to get back to normal. If you send audio files via bluetooth, it takes an age to recognise them. Every time you enter a new menu or even press a key it takes 5 seconds to think about it then takes you to the right place.

This is a great idea from Nokia, but I think it needs a Core 2 Duo processor inside to deal with all the heavyweight features that it's got. It's definitely too much too soon.

So what will I replace it with? I've read similar reviews to this about the N73. The Samsung D900 and the SE K800I are in with a chance at the minute.

Is there a software update available for your phone?

I did my N80 yesterday and apart from not being able to backup my 1200 txt msgs everything worked great!

N73 was the same when it came out, but after only 2 month  Frockia released an update for them which was supposed to fix it - dont know if this worked as I got rid of it before the update was brought out...

Yet another lemon from Nokia. :finger:

Anywho, my sisters N95 is on fleabay for anyone interested - PM me and Ill PM you the link if anyones interest

I've checked on the Nokia UK site and there's no support software for the N95 as yet. It's going back. I think I will stick to what I know and have the SE K800i. I used to swear by Nokia and wouldn't even look at another brand, but for reliability SE rock.
