I've got my Dad's N73 to upgrade tomorrow... he quite likes his apart from the odd problems he's having with it...

Sounds like this software upgrade is just what it needs to sort it out :)

I've checked on the Nokia UK site and there's no support software for the N95 as yet. It's going back. I think I will stick to what I know and have the SE K800i. I used to swear by Nokia and wouldn't even look at another brand, but for reliability SE rock.

Wait for the K810i next month. Thinner handset with a couple of extra features over the K800i, they may have fixed the joystick problems too.

Agree SE rocks.

my mates n95 won't display net browser anymore so hes sending it back.

Nokia release more software updates than anyone can keep up with (They are still releasing updates for the 6230i). It will be at least another 6 weeks before the N95 is supported by Club Nokia Service points.

Nokia don't believe in training and supplying the service partners before launch and this product is just another typical Nokia.

Nope, same switch :(

I had a T68i, about 5 years ago. Joystick went dicky on that. Upgraded to t610 and same problem. Upgraded to w800 - guess what, same problem. Then K800, again, same problem. I would much prefer a nokia that crashed all the time but has all the bells and whistles than a SE that doesnt crash but lacks features and the ones it does have are difficult to get to thanks to a crappy screen and joystick :thumbdwn:

OMFG:eek:

Whats going on with the band of buttons, did they run out of money and have to use them off the old model!?

And them circular keys, whats the deal with them  They are even using the same screen by the looks of things so no progression there either

I phoned T Mobile this morning and demanded that they take the N95 back immediately. they reluctantly agreed, then I set about looking for a replacement on the interweb. All the phones I've been looking at are old news and my contract lasts for 18 months. I've become extremely exasperated by the W800i and don't think I could stand a similar phone for another 18 months.

the thing is, I just love the features on the N95. I've discovered that the main problem is to do with the WLAN application. If I do anything connected to WLAN then the phone chucks a 7. If I leave the WLAN alone then it works very well. I'm now even tempted to keep it. I think I may wait for a software upgrade for the WiFi application and just not use it until it's fixed.  :P

I'm keeping the phone now. Everything works pretty well except for the WiFi. I'm gonna hunt around for a support forum. the trials of being an early adopter! LOL.

Ive got mine...

Bit of getting used to needed as ive always been a S40 user.. but its a nice powerful phone... the speakers are awesome :D

Oh and yes, o2 provided a 1gig memory card with all the maps on for the maps application

I'm getting fed up with Nokia now to be honest, mines a 6280 and I get constant bugs -

Randomly for no reason (even if I havent used the phone for a few hours) it pops up the message 'phone restricted' and I have to switch it off then on again a few times till the message clears.

When sending texts It sometimes says 'message centre number not defined, define now?' the only way to stop this happening is to pull the battery while its switched on, normal turning of/on doesn't help.

It constantly drops the gprs so when I try and go on the net it says 'packet data connection not available'

I'm truly fed up with it now, but due to where I live I can only be on either o2 or 3, and I had so many problems with o2's customer service I wont touch them again.

Can anything be done with my phone? nokia dont appear to have any updates available on there website and it's really p*ssing me off now!

Think I might dump nokia (after 15 years of loyalty) and change to LG or something, at least the LG will work even if it doesn't have the same feature count, unfortunatley 3 seem to be really slow at getting the latest handsets.

Find a Nokia service centre as they often have firmware updates that you won't find in the public domain.

*#0000# will tell you your current version of firmware, Our local service place charges £25 for an update if you are out of warrenty, free within it.

Phones only a year old and according to the manual it has a 2 year warranty, so hopefully wont have to pay, but I wold if it sorted the phone!

There is a nokia service centre in town but I wouldn't trust them to be honest, it's a right shady looking place and some of the characters that are seen entering/leaving aren't the most honest looking! I'll see where my next nearest one is I think!

The speakers are commendable. The 3D sound effect is quite good if you ever feel the need to hold your phone directly in front of your face and experience sounds floating around the back of your heed as if by magic.

you lucky bugger, that's more than I got from T mobile. I'm currently scouring Ebay for a 2gig Micro SD card.

@johnjohnhealey, I would definitely take the phone back to the operator's shop. They should have a repair centre or be able to send your phone off for repair if you complain enough.

Got mine last week on O2 and sent it back a couple of days later...

Phone kept freezing and the only way to clear was to remove the battery...

Shame because it did seem to be a great phone...

Definatly the same unreliable platform as the N73 then.

Why when Nokia came up with a supposable update for the pre N95 phones they didnt think to make it work with the N95

Might get one once its all sorted. Plus some lucky bugger is going to get my sisters one, already up to

Hello,, Mista

Glad you could spare the time from your Radio Controlled etc / your Grill painting / your Company Software improvement program.

BTW - how did you get on with the 'lady' regarding reimbursement ?
