Aren't Xenon's Ace

Featured Replies

We've just had a blast over to Scarborough to visit my in-laws and it was dark on the way home. First time I've driven it in the dark and the headlights are great. This is the first car I've owned that has xenons. Well impressed.

Cheers

I don't have them but I do think they look nice when you can see the blue even when they're not on :)

Wouldn't have a car without them now :thumbup:

Hmmm these might have to be retro fitted at some point i think

Yep :D I do a lot of night driving and wouldn't be without them.

Heers my solution ..

Mounted xenons in the original H4 headlamps since I was not impressed with the standard lights in the MK1 Octy.

Its better now, but I'm still not impressed. Enyone else thinks the MK1 doesnt give a good light?

Since having them on my octy, they are a big improvement over standard lights

I use 100/130w headlight bulbs (angled down slightly) and these give great light without blinding on-coming traffic.

Isn't that illegal? I had read that mounting xenons in a standard reflector causes the light to disperse widely, blinding oncoming drivers. I have seen a few people do this in India and must say that the results are "blinding".

I think "th4neuk" is refering to HID's and they are not blue when switched off

Radiotwo

The projector lenses, usually associated with Xenon's, have a blue tint when light hits them from certain angles.

Almost.

It's the prism effect. When the light hits the projector lamp it reflects the colours of the spectrum.

Yep, Mine are the proper skoda xenons. The original owner ordered them as an extra with the car. This is the main reason I did the 550 mile round trip twice to go get it. I think mk1 Octy vRS's are quite rare with Xenons. Apart from the WRC cars I think I've only seen 2 advertised and one was red and the other in silver.

Cheers

No real need to use main beam if adjusted correctly

You mean set up on 'blind other drivers' mode  My Fabia's were.

No, just got them set up right

Out of interest can they be raised slightly or not. Mine are a bit lower than I would really like but obviously there is no height adjustment??

Cheers

I'm glad I've not got them. I spent ten quid getting two bulbs changed on my Superb a week or two ago which was excellent.

Be it rare the bloke that was fitting them said Xenons cost

They can be adjusted thro' VAG-com. I have mine set to the legal limit.

Yes.

And yes its illegal (Here in Denmark it is)

Awesome GTI fit them for £45 approx well that's what I have been quoted mine is a 2002 Octavia Elegance 4x4 they should make a big difference over the standard ones?
