Best Launch technique for Fabia vRS?

Featured Replies

Well of course guys its all relative, I mean to some people 170BHP is shopping trolley power, but when my old Mk 3 Punto was only kicking out 60BHP, and a meagre 110Nm of Torque, the Fabia is out of this world; I love it so, so much.

Im just trying to drive on the side of caution at the moment, I don't really want to let my inexperience get the better of me and plant the thing in a hedge. But that aside, the ol' vRS is really a pheonomical bit of kit.

that's a very commendable attitude, hope you take the time to learn what your car will do, without killing it... a track day is a good idea...

I'm a driving instructor, and I live in the lakes, all the bunches of flowers by the A66 and assosiated roads for the dead people are teenagers...

wish more people had your cautious attitude instead of the "I can get past him before that corner to show my mates how good I am" attitude...

Excellent attitude and if you want to get more out of driving it, I'd recommend signing up to your local IAM/RoSPA group. If you want a bit more info about what it involves (or a practical demonstration in a slow old repmobile ) give me a shout as I'm just along the road in Andover :D

Chris

There is no way on hells earth that is standard.

I can guarantee you that is a bog standard car, 53 plate (long gearbox). I just might know the car and who's driving it... ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;):D

Powerful? :P
i love the vrs but went the other way,got rid of my skyline to get back in a fabia vrs i got bored with the power, bills, insurance, fuel econamy,d*cks in saxo's trying it on ,uncomfortable ride, so my dream car turned into hell.
got rid of my skyline to get back in a fabia vrs

Then why is the Skyline still parked outside your house then?

Not driving it very often doesn't constitute 'getting rid of'. :D

Was that a 2nd gear start? The initial gear he used seemed very long for 1st...

No that was a 1st gear start, it was in first gear for a while whilst 'he' ;) tried to balance acceleration and wheel spin...

I thought you'd plug the Advanced Driving UK :: Test, Courses, Schools and Road Safety website Chris :)

A worthwile forum if anyone is interested in raising their driving standards.

Best launch I find is;

1st gear

1200rpm

handbrake on

Traction control off

Yellow light---clutch biting point

Green light---Smoothly apply more gas and engage gear, dont wheelspin much.

1st to 2nd change at 2500-3000rpm

2nd to 3rd change at 3000rpm.

A good, smooth gear change using the torque powerband area will destoy most BM's and evo's alike.

Have fun and be safe!:P
