Fabia Alarm question

Featured Replies

My 2001 Elegance was sold as having an alarm (and the current Elegance certainly comes with one) yet I haven't managed to set it off by winding down the window, locking the car and waiting a couple of minutes before sticking my hand through the open window and waving it round (it's ok, the neighbours already think I'm crazy ;)).

In previous cars, the sensors and siren have been pretty obvious in the car and under the bonnet. Whereabouts are the siren and sensors located in the Fabia? :D

I have VAG-COM and cable on order so that should tell me for definite in a week or two, but I'm curious now! :)

I'm not sure if the Fabia has motion sensors. If you want to check that it does have an alarm, lock it with the remote and openit with the key

sensor unit is situated above the interior light maybee someone has turned it right down, if you remove interior light and place your hand up in headlining you will find the unit stuck to the headlining.

Thanks for the advice guys. :D

Colin, I think the alarm can be disarmed/armed with the key but not 100% sure.

BigK, yep when I was looking round the interior I noticed a kind of vent cut away by the driver's map reading light which looked promising, butI haven't had a chance to take the panel off yet to test it. I'm assuming I can up the sensitivity using VAG-COM?

Possibly but I've set it off that way

there is a screw on the unit above the interior light for sensitivity

if you open the door with the key you have 30 secs to turn the ignition on or the alarm will go off, i have tried this in my fabia vrs and it went off after 30 secs, does the standard fabia vrs have motion sensors or does it just monitor the boot, doors bonnet etc

When I had my elegance me and a mate sat in the car with the alarm on, bouncing about but still did not manage to set it off.

The siren is supposed to be located behind the NSR wheel arch, although when my vRS was in for an alarm problem a few weeks ago, we could not find it!

Chas, the vRS has the same alarm as the Elegance so it does have interior motion sensors.

cool i didnt know that, cant see where they are though,

they should be behind the plastic shield (which means taking off the wheel first). As I said me and a mechanic at the dealers spent ages looking for it without luck and ended up calling Skoda technical support who just told us the (supposed) position of it.

You can also unlock the car with the key, but if any other door is then opened before the driver's door, the alarm will go off.

Alarm has an ultrasonic sensor located behind the interior light (small black box). Also has its own battery supply located under the front scuttle panel below the front windscreen. Siren is also in a similar location hidden from view and arkward to get to.

I thought this thread looked familiar! As it happens, I did find out the car had an alarm when it went off unprovoked a few times in the middle of the night. Does the Elegance have it's own battery source? I found the alarm could be disabled by unhooking it from the main battery.........

Chris

I think Steve must be searching for Fabia and Alarm as a lot of old threads have been dragged up.
