1/4 mile times

hi all

tomorow i am lucky to have been invited to run my octavia on a pro closed day at santapod race way.I am hoping for some unrepetable times due to strip being fully preped for the day (glued). Im also told buy the guy who runs the day ,i can expect no wheel spin!!!.However i feel some practice will be needed not to break any drivetrain components.will let you no how it goes.Any serious drag racing tips would be good!!!

Good Luck mate!

Show those "Funny" cars how it's done lol

Just make sure that your gentle with the clutch and gearchanges or youll snap the mainshaft for sure ;)

Go fast, go straight, and keep the shiny side up! ;)

Cracking, best of luck to you, get the slips and plenty of pic's...looking for front cover shots ;)

Good luck James!

James let us know your times cos I am trying to wangle us a few entries at TOTB III which would be fun to do in Skoda's!

Probably too late to wish you all the best but will be very interested to see the times achieved. :)

i'd say launch at about 2.5-3K rpm and you should see yourself off the line cleanly... be careful through the changes though, i never missed a gear change in the 19 till i was running it up the strip at santa pod...

apparently if you see the green lights in the xmas tree your to slow off the mark, sounds funny but the change from 3 ambers to green is very fast and that can loose you a race up the strip.

also dont do what i did and let off as you go under the gantry, from memory that isnt the end of the 1/4, you need to keep it nailed till you see the red light on the banking to your left.

Be good to see the times though, shame there isnt a standard vRS going up to.

Unfortunately rain stopped play so the day was a wash out.

They prepped/dryed the strip 3 times, but it kept raining, so no one got to run.

Did empty an 11lb bottle of Nitrous on the way home though lol!

See some of you tomorrow at Dubsport.

That's a shame :(

Weather must have been local to the pod as up in Bedford-ish it was nice and sunny :)

You still looking for front cover shots? I have a few pictures taken in the last week which look good (well to me they do). There in my gallery. Maybe need to get some on the move though.

Tsk tsk Dave, as if Q would be so unkind :D

Twas an honest question! I just assume the run was at the pod today...

How the christ fire does your octavia put the power down with nos? It's hard enough to get grip as it is bog standard.

you have to turn the traction control on Day tripper ;)

i did wonder though... i'd have thought the progressive controller helps.

But the traction control would cut down the revs wouldnt it? So there wouldnt be much point in the nos then?

Better tyres and suspension help.

I guess the progressive controller, as Nigel pointed out, would also help.

And 19" wheels
