Starter motor trouble

Featured Replies

My starter motor has been requiring frequent taps of encouragment recently to get it going, but today it would only respond to violent hitting whilst cranking so clearly something needs doing.

Question is, can I remove it and do anything to fix it myself or is a new one required? If so how much are they new?

Cheers

Got local auto electrician to run a new wire to the starter motor (skoda wanted

Either that or the solonoid's gone. Any decent auto electrician will be able to work out which and fix it.

i agree with KenO.... the soleniod is probably NFG
