ratling engine

Featured Replies

are felicias engines spose to sound so ratley i think its the belt thats loud but dunno if it spose to be or if theres any way to make it quiet lol i know its a silly question but im a silly person ....help! lol

if its a 1.3 engine then it will be the timing chain.

they allways rattle as there isnt a tensioner fitted to them.

nothing serious will probably rattle on like that for hundreds of thousands of miles, but if it bothers you that much you can do what i have and buy a timing chain kit and all the other bits and replace the chain. havent got round to doing it yet as a pig of a job to do.

hope this helps.

Alright mate

Welcome to the world of Skoda rattles.

You will need the following to do it yourself:

Sump gasket (15-20 quid)

Timing cover gasket (couple of quid)

Oil pump gasket (pence)

Timing chain and sprockets (

Oh forgot to mention to make sure that you have the valve clearences right first as they wont help if tolerences are out.

:) TBH Skoda timing chains are pretty easy to replace, a garage should be able to do it in 2-3 hours fairly easily.

There's a seller on Ebay called Jorily Skoda who'll help you out and the parts seem very cheap too :) I am considering doing the same on my favorit.
