1.6 FSI - A Rare Sight On Our Roads?

After I asked, I did read that thread.

Cheers

I was thinking that only in my country - where there is an old way of thinking about the economy brought by Diesel engines - I can find such a big number of TDIs. I also have an Octy 1.6 FSI and it is the only one I have seen in the entire city in the last 3 months (since I began being interested in Octavia). I live in a 300,000-inhabitants city. The other petrol-powered are MPIs. I hate Diesel. The sound makes me feel like I drive a farm tractor. I can't understand why they are so mad about TDI.

So, diesels have 2 pipe oriented down (u know, they make a lot of smoke, it is rude to throw it directly out in the face of the next car :P )

1.6 FSI has 1 pipe parallel with the earth, and 2.0 FSI has 2 pipes.

U may also check this: Skoda

You just made me go out with a torch to check the colour of my "I". (Red, by the way). How sad does that make me??!!:o

Does anyone else have an L&K? I have had mine over a year and only ever seen one other.

I've got one but haven't seen another 1.6 L&K I guess more people with an L&K also go for the more powerful engines.

Most of the octavias around where I am are taxis and therefore diesels

had my 1.6 fsi for 6months ,much better than the mark 1

have a couple of small problems anti skid wheel sensor on the rear

which they had to replace abs sender unit but other that that a good car

will look better when i replace steels with alloys, all so loads of 2.0 tdi sports

in birmingham:)

Mine's a 1.6 FSI Ambiente (Red), two months old.

Since I bought it, I've been looking out for others - very few and far between in this area (Chelmsford).

Do I mind? Certainly not. It's nice to have something different, and to see other people looking with (I believe) interest.

And, so far, I love it.

Interesting this. I have just taken delivery of a 2.0 l FSI and it has twin exhaust pipes and the i on the rear badge is red!

Does that help or confuse?!

is it a sport?

My 2005 2.0FSI has twin tailpipes and a red I [maybe it has been up too late.]

Yeah, indeed, nice to be the uncommon one for a change, just a little surprised how few and few between they seem to be.

is it a sport?

No it's an Elegance!

chalk me up as another 1.6 fsi owner, pukka motor: 39-41mpg, picks up well, quiet (idle & cruising), spins to redline freely.

Hi guys, I'm a proud owner since Saturday of a 1.6 FSI silver Elegance Octavia II (05 reg)

I haven't seen many other FSIs around. Mostly diesels, but I don't do the mileage anymore.

I got the car yesterday, and unfortunately have noticed a few things I need to sort out. I also went to Halfords today, and following other recommendations from this forum, bought a few bottles of Autoglym (3 for 2): Shampoo, alloy seal, leather care, and polish.

I hope I can get this car as good as new. Apart from that, I'm quite happy with the engine so far. I traded a HDI 110 bhp, and while the power in the FSI is not quite on the same revs, I have enjoyed my first few miles with the FSI.

Hi Guys.

I am new to Skodas and to this forum.

I took delivery of a 1.6FSi Elegance Estate with luxury leather interior just 3 weeks ago.

I originally wanted the 1.6 L&K but they have dropped it now.

Loving it so far.

Not many of us about are there ? :)

Pete

I have a 2.0 FSI L&K and just love it.

I also have an 1,6 FSI elegance! It is awsome!

How much difference in cost [and running costs] do you reckon there is nowadays between 2.0 FSI [i have that in Elegance trim] and 1.6 FSI in the same trim level ? The 2.0 is so good I wonder if there is enough saving to be worth getting a 1.6 instead [ not criticising, just wondering !!!]

I drive 1.6 FSI in Germany (fuel CO95) and I get around 7.5 litres /100 km mixed (80% small City driving). 130 km/h on Highway with Cruise Control brings me 6.5-6.7 litres/100km. Very happy about the car/engine.

I drove also 2.0 FSI, it has MUCH more power, you feel it well, but during my test fuel consumption was around 10... too much for my daily home-work-home usage :(

Also insurance/tax is a bit more for 2.0.

I think both 1.6 FSI and 2.0 FSI are "dead" since the new 1.8 TFSI appeared :D

Yes, I think that is likely to be my next trade in, if everything else about it stays good [or better].

IIRC from when I got mine, the price difference was about

My 2.0 TDI has 2 pipes (and a red 'I')

Has anybody ever seen a 1.4 Octavia - they are rare !
