Hi new guy and wanna be fab vRS owner!

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have been reading posts up here for some time now and thought I better post!

I have a 306 Dturbo at the moment and cant wait to get shot of it!!! never ever buy a french car!! Anyway Ive test driven a Fabia Vrs, it is a fantastic car and the more I read from you current owners the more it gets better

Trouble is I have just got a date to joint the RAF but it is January! :( It looks like ill have to wait till then. Unless I got a full time job (nothing special)

Do you think I will be able to afford to get a brand new car on a fairly low income? What apr have people got from skoda?

Thanks for your help and I cant wait to chat more when I actually have a vRS!!

Adam

Skoda were doing a 0% deal if you fronted half the cash I think? Whether that offer has now gone I'm not sure (and I think the vRS was excluded anyway)

If you get a few K for your HDI (dunno value) its probably easier to get a personal loan. Cahoot are doing a silly rate at the moment which I've taken advantage of recently.

(welcome too BTW)

Welcome to the mob Briskoda and the RAF!! As I am a Ground Electronics Techie, what you joining up as???? You do know that the starting wages are rubbish don't you ????? (just thinking about if you are gonna get finance)

Not welcome to the raf quite yet.......9 months to go!! Im going to be an Aircraft Technician (Mechanical).

I know the starting wage, to be honest i dont think its too bad epecially as the cost of living is pretty low.

Im not to worried about that though as i want to know if I can afford it on a temp style job before jan. Need to sell the 306 before the frenchness means it falls apart an is worthless by Jan time!!

:D Welcome adam.Nice to see it's not just me hacked off with the psa group.I'm currently bining a pug partner van that has been nowt but expensive trouble since the 3 year warranty expired 12 months ago,and it's only done 47k.As for the family hack..a citroen c5,wot a dog, using customers as guinea pigs to find out what all the design faults are,and there are plenty, and custmer services in slough couldn't give a jot!Stiched up with it 'til next year(contract hire) sadly, then it'll be a proper car.OCTAVIA!! Hope someone from psa group reads this assuming their computer wasn't made by citroen or pug! Rant over..for now..Cheers c.j.

i got 9%apr from local dealer which was half what i had on my old car, i had no deposit or trade in and to finance my car over 5 years costs me

That isnt too bad. Trouble is the waiting list means ill have to keep driving the 306  which means more will go wrong no doubt and more spending on fixing it. could probably get a merc on the amount it costs to run a peugeot/french thing as C.J also knows!!!!

2 less customers for french cars!!

Couldnt belive the test drive in the skoda, I now know how a car is supposed to be built!!!

Adam

Welcome to Briskoda and the nice, reliable cars of the Skoda clan!

I too got rid of a pug for my last Fabia. Am now on my second!

Welcome to Briskoda, Adam. :D Based on my past experience of 36 years in the RAF, I would caution you against buying a new car for at least your first year or two in the Service. You may well move bases a few times in that period; you are unlikely to be able to garage the car; and your mates will treat your car like a taxi. In short, it could well prove to be an expensive distraction. If you need a car, buy a cheap secondhand one and put any spare money aside for the day when a new one is more appropriate.

Thanks for the advice. Trouble is I have had cheap runarounds in the past and i seem to spend a fortune fixing them and keeping them on the road. eg

 Hey adam, what about a cheap skoda for now? Don't know how much u can afford but a mileagy early fab or octy shouldn't be too many grand I'd of thought.Get it through a2nd hand merchant and get a warranty to go with it.Just a suggestion to get you out of the wretched french thing Cheers colin

not a bad idea but i like a sporty looking car and the cheaper skodas are more funtional looking. The 306 has sports seats standard and I put 17s on it so it looks good even if it doesnt go good!

I want a good looking car standard so i dont have to do anything to it. To be honest I dont really really like other skodas apart from vrs. The great thing about the vrs is they look great and I wouldnt have to touch it.

I think I would regret spending money on a lower model, sitting in it and imagining what i could have had.

Adam

:sadwavey: Think you'll be hard pushed to find a cheap fab vrs yet.Mind you judging by wot I read on here, there could be some cheap damaged repairables knockin' about after 24/4 ey!!!!!!!! c.j.

...because it is standard! Doesn't look that bad does it :D Think carefully before you answer though!

The hedge has gone now!

The exhaust also went just before I got rid of it. Ended it's life with me like this. Sounded very nice too. Nice deep roar, which was much kinder on the ear to the real loud bark from the oval upswept box! :D

Hey col, that looks like a nice venue for an autotest! Where is it? c.j.
