VW Phaeton wouldn't start

Featured Replies

This began with a neighbour with a petrol Fabia combi popping round to say her car wouldn't start - she'd inadvertently left the ignition on for 8 hours  The lady is 79 and generally does very well.

Anyway we called the Rescue service she was subscribed to and he bump started the car (because it was facing the wrong way down a long drive) and all was well - even the coil, despite 8 hours.

We began chatting.

He'd had to go to a VW Phaeton that wouldn't start. The guy had bought it second-hand for

more likely to be 26 modules, rather than 26 ecu's... you will mosst likely find that the engine management unit containts most of those modules inside one unit

Are you thinking of buting a Phaeton then Val?

I'm pretty sure that the W12 contains 2 ECUs, each one controlling 6 cylinders.

I would love the V10 Diesel, but you cannot get a 3yr old one for less that 35K, the V6's are around the 20K for a 3yr old one.

Still look like big Passats to me.Nothing wrong with that...I like passats.

Just think it proves that VW/luxury don't go hand in hand.Still think Mercedes win any S size car competition ie that is where 'captains of industry' type people will spend their money.

Could you get a 3 year old s class for

on the flipside W8 passats are quite affordable now... street sleeper :D

WTF does selecting this "Sport" mode lock out the starter? If requiring the mode to be selected every time it's wanted is intended, why not just have it deselected in s/w when the engine's turned off?
