Worried Newbie!!!

Featured Replies

I've been looking through your site for some time now and I thought It's about time to say Hi.

I'm the proud owner of a Real Silver VRS and am getting used to the power. I have heard a rumour about a turbo kit on test at the mo that can produce 500BHP , and i have provisionally booked in to have the work done next tuesday. The tuner says itll take a week to complete the work

Are there still any spaces on this trackday ive heard is coming up as im also booked in for an AP 6 pot brake conversion on the front end, together with the KW3 kit on linear springs as ive heard that they too are very good.

any advice would be most appreciated

hi guys,

thx for the welcome

the cars an Octavia that i have not an ickle furby.....

anyways, ive been out in the demo car and seen the dynograph plots and am well impressed.......so ive got it booked in...no rumour at all

So the provisional booking is now firm? And the rumour is fact? I am sure that lots of us would like to know what turbo you are having fitted and by whom. You will need some serious mods to the engine and ancilliaries to achieve that sort of power reliably so what exactly are you having done? :)

:P sorry meaty when you said real vrs,I just assumed it was THE real one, sorry.Welcome anyway, takes allsorts I suppose  colin

its a GT35R turbo, external wastgate, custom built manifold and exhaust- carbon backbox, larger injectors, titanium rods, JE pistons, sachs paddle clutch, peliquin diffs(sp), over size MAF, larger one off FMIC (with NOS halo kit)+ custom made ITG carbon intake kit. Uprated 6 speed box

will be running 19's on 9mm spacers (arches are being rolled to fit) so brakes will fit

Cant mention tuner at present as its a one off till test proven

Mr. Nugget

A GT35R, bloody hell!!!

How will they get it to fit behind the engine, will they be using a support bracket, will they be moving the servo or the AirCon piping, what injectors are you using, what 6 speed will you be using and are you remaking the drive shafts, so many questions......sorry!!

PS Oh and err welcome BTW.

Welcome to Briskoda meaty nugget.

Des, you getting itchy fingers??? Asking all those questions. Whatever happened to becoming the modabstainer??

Welcome Meaty Nugget !

If you get the chance to come to the meet then please do so :D

Yep Meaty - we'd all love to see that beast - bring it along - you know where to book, I assume?

And very welcome...

only through my rear view mirror.;)

Unless they are using NoS as an anit lag it will take about a fortnight for the 1.8T to spool up that size turbo.

We run a Golf with the GT25 RS turbo and the lag was immense, have since gone to a IHI unit.

Feck me.... thats a big hairdryer! :D

Ross, can I have a look at some graphs please? I don't know if they are 'secret' or whatnot, but any help regarding turbo choice would be greatly appreciated.

Just out of interest, was the GT series you tried in combination with the stock exhaust cam? What are the numbers for the stock cam?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to make sure I end up with the right components (hence me in on a sat night reading web pages hehe)

cheers.gif

That is one huge turbo! There would definitely have to be something used there to stop the lag.

Meaty,

nice bit of kit youve got going on there, have sent you PM to see if your tuners need a LCR to play with too.

presume that a Anti lag system would be come with the kit too, wouldnt it????

otherwise itll take about 3days to spool up

Steve

I dont have any graphs for the GT turbo no, we were not very happy with it and there were alot of manifold issues using that unit. It kept blowing no matter what kind of fixings or flange design we used. In the end we just binned it and went for a more proven design.

And yes we retained the stock cams.

For any further advice email us on [email protected]

Cheers

Ross
