What happens with insurance in these circs? 'Cause my Direct Line policy states that theft is not covered if the car was stolen with the keys!

Thought that kind of clause covers situations where you leave the car with the keys in - e.g. petrol station, or while you pop into the newsagents?

Tracking:- I got RAC Trackstar...........you know its coming back...but i wish the police would "Sit off" and watch a car to nick those who return for it!

The sad thing is cos it is a souped up VRs as well there aren't going to be many Police cars to keep with it!

I can give it a go, however the tarffic cars round here are Merc C320's and we keep up with them most of the time except on long stretches where they get the edge on us...

Lets hope someone see's it. People DO STEAL skodas now cos they are quick and desirable!

Sorry to here this Jon. Remember reading a thread on the evo forum about a guy who had his TT stolen. They broke in is home and demanded the keys. Very disturbing to read so god know how the guy felt.

I know my dad keeps his keys down stairs while I keep mine in my room. Thinking about it I don't know which is best. If its some petty theifs then best keep them out of site. But if its some armed smakehead or gang members I think keeping the keys downstairs would be best. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want i gun pointed at me.

In this case the keys were not in the car and forcible entry was used to get at them. I cannot see there being a problem with Direct Line in similar circumstances.

i keep my keys in my room but one of my neigbours has a scooby and the other a TT so i'm hoping that they'd attract the attention first.

i'll get a friend at Stansted Airport to check the car parks,he's already found a few stolen vehicles there,you never know!!!!!

If your car has been revo'd, with a SPS2 or SPS3, you can lock the ECU, which acts as a further immobiliser.

Keep that upstairs, hand over the keys if they break in, and watch them get frustrated as the car refuses to start.

Airports, Luton would be closest and has a massive longstay carpark.

Buy a 4X4...

Who are you insured with? Someone might just be able to offer advice as to when your insurer will cough up for a stolen car. In the meantime have a think about what the car is worth and read this article about the valuation of motor vehicles. (It is also in our web links).

But it makes sense! Lower insurance group, less likely to be stolen (cos it is allegedly less attractive :( ), but as tuneable as the vRS.
